ok, well, im having a problem getting my hatch to fire up now. long story short, i bought the car for 200.oo and then found out the kid was ripping me off by stealing the car when i wasnt out to his brother's place to get it. i took a police escort and finally got it back but something is messed up. I have everything plugged in but he cut part of the wiring harness to wire up a toggle switch for lights and another for the fan and the fuel pump. charged the battery and turned the key over, but all there was was a click sound. not a continuous click just one click then done. what could be the issue? could something be unplugged or is something having a short circuit?

the click sound, that sounds like it's your starter

the starter worked fine before i pulled the engine to put a new tranny in. could it be unplugged or bad wires? or all together the starter?

it could be the starter solenoid. but if I were you, I would just try to get a new engine harness if it's all hacked like you said
