| Junior Member | Ok, I'm definately a noob when it comes to hondas. I have biult chevys, fords, and even VW, but this is my first honda swap. My girlfriends 94 Civic Ex, took a dump on her and I have a line on a 96 Civic with a D16Y8 in it. Is there anything I should look out for during the swap? Is this an okay swap? Should I try to find something different? I have searched and from what I found it shoud basically just bolt in, right? Please give me any help you can as I am new to this and could definetaly use it. Thanks Clayton |

Rep Power: 31 | the engine will bolt right up, but the 94 engine is obd1 and the new engine is obd2. Not that big of a issue, just you will need an obd1 dizy, altinator, and fuel injectors. Might help to just swap thintake many from the old engine on to the new one, but im not sure which one flows better. The new engine will havea few sensors you wont have a spot for on your harness, but thats ok, cause the ecu wont be looking for them. Its much easier to put an obd2 in and obd1 chasie, than the other way around

Rep Power: 31 | um if you are going to convert to a many sell the car and get a manual. its a lot of work, not really hard or anything, but alot of pain in the ass for little result. Its cheaper to sell the auto and buy a manual, but if i were you id just get an auto ecu and call it good |

Rep Power: 31 | you can youse the 94 ecu that is fine. and the intake many wont effect the trany bolting up. He was just saying that the intake manifold on the engine is diftent for the manual and the automatic. I didnt know that, looked like it would be fine for my bros car, which was an auto, but i never bolted it on so idk. |

| you get the BRAKE | just swap bottom ends, keep your z6 head (if the valvetrain is not damaged), so no wiring is needed. keep it auto, converting to manual will be a pain, ive done it. a lot of time at the junkyard salvaging parts, its not fun. |
