Default H2B worth it in a eg?

Im swapping a h22 into my eg and was looking at the h2b kit. I read you can use b-series linkage, clutch, and axles. Someone also said the gearing on a gsr tranny would make it alot quicker but when would it top out? Is this the only way to really get around breaking axles on a h22 swapped car? I seen some company called evolution made them just wondering if there mounts are even worth a shit?

Fatboy Raceworks Transmission Gear Ratio Calculator - Honda/Acura & More. I can't speak from personal use, but I've heard good things about the adapters.

Ha, this stuff makes my kit look even more of a deal.

Best thing to do is to look around people that actually swapped them and, IE build threads, and see how everything went and what kit they used. I can't name any off hand.

I bought mine used from a guy he didn't have any problem, then I got it in my car, had too many issues my cars wiring and my old brakes had all went to hell from sitting waiting for a good swap.

Ok so the gsr tranny will top out at 166 mph if you have 205/40/17's which is quite a high speed. Heres the site Fatboy Raceworks Transmission Gear Ratio Calculator - Honda/Acura & More hahaha ooops nootrac, didnt even noticed u used the same calc.

As far as that H2B kit, i think its a waste of money, if you already have a B-series motor in your car why not put the 1200 $ or more into the b engine instead of buying the h2b kit. You could do up a nice b20 vtec for cheaper than the kit and the h22. And it would be a helluva lot faster aswell.

The only problem is you have to build the B20, B18, B16 get to the point of a stock H22. H series has more potential from displacement and a better starting point.

Screw just doing the B20 Vtec, if you want something fast turbo it. Almost any proper tuned turbo Honda can haul some ass. It all depends on what your looking at it and try to calculate the cost to what you'll get and what you're looking for.

Yea I was originally gonna go with turbo, but I figure for now ill go ls vtec, then this winter build up my turbo. I dunno man, the h22 only has 200 hp, b20 vtec will easily get 200 hp without even building the motor. But I agree with the turbo idea, build the bottom end, slap a turbo on it and youll have a killer ride.

You need some compression to get those numbers with a B20, replacing pistons and putting on a new head + modifying it to work would still justify as building. Unless you buy a newer B20Z block which you'll end up spending more and still not have high compression. Then you need to tune it. It is also recommenced to build up the bottom for some revs since the engine normally does rev like it would with the new head.
You already have a good base torque line with the H and it is straight out stock. I have no problem with either engine. The one downside is the aftermarket support is not as diverse for the H as it is for the B.

Personally the next thing i would build again would be a nice turbo D..

Well my hatch is stock with a d15 the only reason i was thinking about this swap is cause i want the h22 powerplant i just dont want to snap axles left and right. I heard doing this allows you to use b series axles and such so there not at a akward angle like that on a h22 swap. I was just wodering if anyone has a h22 swap using a h22 tranny and doesnt break axles like crazy

I dunno man, your going to snap axels anyway, especially if you go turbo. One thing about the h22 is you are going to have to get a slim rad fan, and if you have ac you will have to loose it. Its definitly a little tougher swap than a b-series swap. You should be fine if you order mounts from a reputable company such as hasport. You wouldnt really need the h2b kit, you could just get the entire swap.

I'm not sure if the H22 swap alone much less the H2B will require a slim fan on either case, I didn't need one in my rex, and theres gobs more room in an 92+ model. But on 88-91 civics you need to cowl the hood or modify it. 92-95 you can just prop the hood up on the back with washers.

Hell if your feeling adventurous go H2D, but at least get an EX tranny because the adapter plate kits are for OEM placement of the transmission, gearing, and more cost effective when it comes to the transmission.

If its your first time swapping I'd say go either B or turbo. Unless you have someone around you that has been doing this before.

Never swapped a honda but ive worked on cars and everything else. I have went through all tech articles and the only difference in the swap is cuttin a mount and hole for the linkage. Im getting a different radiator fan setup anyways to make sure it stays cool down here in az. Im also goin to run a/c i have talked to people that build the mount for my stock d15 compressor to work. I just want to have a nice quick DD that wont break if i try to launch it. Maybe ill just break down and buy some DSS stage 2's
