Default Painting a JDM Aluminum Radiator- yes or no?

sup all. I am considering painting my jdm aluminum radiator with a can of flat black primer so it won't stand out so much.

Would painting it increase or decrease its cooling efficiency and why?

Thanks!

yes it will kill the efficiency
because the paint will act as an insulator

it wonty kill it that much if you dont use a lot of paint
just spray one light coat you'll be fine

it's called jdm cause that is the generic name for a cheap high flow aluminum radiator on E-Bay. Yeah I was thinking just a light coat might do it.

Paint act as an insulator- that was what my guess would be.

Anyone else?

I paint my rads in my truck (number5 now) running a 383 stroker( a hot running motor by nature) I use cheap old flat black paint and have noticed a total temp differnce of 5C from unpainted to painted so really it makes no differnce

just enough to cover it you really don't want more then one coat but if it's really thin paint and doesnt cover you can go with two
use your better judgment

nice I think I'm going to give it a try. The more things that get painted the better!
