well i was racing my ls/vtec setup just at a local 1/8th mile track, and on the third run, at about 8600rpm i felt it cut out, and then when i let off there was a big loud miss in the engine..any idea what it could be, i thought it was just the plugs but i changed those and it still wont start up now, i drove it part of the way home missing then it just cut out on me and died going down the road. If anyone could help that would be great?>

What is the Chassis? EG, EF, EK? Spark plugs will DEFINATLY not cause an Audibly loud miss, and usually a spark plug or wire miss is from crap building up, not abuse.

Check the rotor?

Timing belt could have jumped, too.

what pistons are in there? if they are oem ls then you might of have slapped a valve.

Sounds like you dropped the valves man. Was the engines dieseling on the way home. Does the engine turn over at all? I mean i could see this happening if you exceeded 8600 rpm and just red lined the shit out of it. To me it sounds like you dropped the valves. I'd check the head out for sure. thats where i'd start. then go from there.

well theres your problem right there, its an LS/vtec, hope that bottom end was built, cause those engines are trash, but thats just my 2cents

Lol noob huh, HAHAH only to this site and yes ls vtec are trash, when you put a hea on a bottom end thats built for 7k and your taching it out to 8600, HMMMMM i wonder what could go wrong with that, LOL noob, HAHHA only to this site brotha only to this site, and whats all done to your lsvtec ? im not saying i will beat you but if te mods are the same i guarantee i can hang

LOL, but i was serious, i mean your taking a motor thats built for 7k and your pushing its limits to 8600almost 9grand, theres somethign BOUND to go wrong. I just hope in his case it wasnt anything serious and can be fixed fairly easy, i know first hand how rebuilding motors go

if i could only make it, i would LOVE to have fun at laguna seca with you, i think it would be tits, but i live in TX and thats a lil bit of a drive for me LOL. And FYI my gsr makes power at 8500 *shrugs* so you got me. But you never answered my question, why you rebuilding your motor ?

I meant what other LS/VTEC than a built LS/VTEC will make power at 8500, SORRY my bad.
I am rebuilding my motor for more power not cuz it's broke, sorry you can't make it July 1 to Laguna Seca it's a gorgeous track.
Oh and I am only doing a head rebuild..... stock bottom
