Guys,

This is using Australian delivered Honda parts- The v6 accord seems to have the exact same brake specs as the ITR and the Prelude VtiR.

I have recently up graded my stock 10.5 inch JDM SiR brakes for 11.1inch brakes off an Accord. The brake discs and callipers were the exact same as those of a type R integra. I just had to redrill discs and shave 1.4mm off the brake calliper mounts.

But I want MORE...

This weekend I an picking up a full set of 98-02 accord hubs and brakes to see if it is possible to do a swap by mix and matching components. Before I do it I am wondering if any one else has done the 4 to 5 stud swap without using ITR/CTR brake parts?

This is what I envisage

1 Hope against hope that accord and civic front knuckles will interchange with minor mods

2 Realise there is no way in F#*K the knuckles will interchange and press out the 5 stud accord hubs and try to press into the civic knuckles

3 Realise the bloody bearings are different sizes so find an appropriate bearing to suit, or machine out civic hub carrier to accept accord front wheel bearing

4 get it all together to realise I should have counted the friggin number of splines on the accord hub.

Rear

1 Try and mount the rear accord hubs and disc on the civic stub axles,

2 Realise the civic stubs are too small and pull out the stub axles from accord and bolt into civic rear trailing arms (if I can find socket to suit those funky stub axle securing bolts)

3 Try and mount the accord rear callipers on the original civic spot (civic behind the hub accord in front of the hub like a prelude). I checked the part number of the prelude/accord rear caliper and it was the same as ITR rear calipers.

4 Swap calipers from side to side.

Anyone care to add a few steps or let me know that some won't be necessary?

Ie does the Prelude/Accord and ITR share same no of splines on the outer CVs?

Not sure about the number of splines, but you'll want to make sure they are the same diameter. The later ITRs use 36mm hubs. But if the diameter is the same then the splines are the same.

Well after spending 4 hrs in a honda parts warehouse I have these useful tips.

Honda HRV (mini SUV) front hubs (5 stud) press straight in to the honda civic knuckles and make the disks and calipers from the HRV (same part numbers as CTR/ITR) a bolt on proposition.

Honda accord prelude rear hubs will go onto the civic if you extend the factory stub axle with a screw on extension. An extension allows you to bolt on the accord/prelude 5 stud hub disc and calliper. Again the same specs as ITR.

Hope this helps people comtemplating the swap.

Most cost effective is to just bolt on the redrilled accord front disks and shave some off the calliper bracket (1.4mm).

Cheers
