| Junior Member | im buying a 2001 acura integra type r but i have a few concerns about one im buying. its got a b18c1 bottom with a type r head...im sure the b18c1 is from a gs-r engine and not the stock type r bottom. is this a good thing or a bad thing? - any reason why it would have a gs-r bottom instead of the stock type r bottom? or is it the same thing. has the car lost hp or gained or is it the same? |

| Senior Member | are you sure the car is an actual Type-R? the guy may be selling it for a Type-R price when its really just a GS-R with a new head. im not trying to say the guy you are dealing with is shady or anything but if you have these kinds of concerns it may not hurt to ask yourself (and him for that matter) these kinds of questions. the comp ratio of a B18C5 teggy r is 10:2:1 and the comp for the B18C1 is 10:0:1. the GS-R is supposed to have around 170 hp while the R is around 195 i believe. a GSR with the lower comp ratio may give more torque in the lower end (maybe??) while still reving like an R. all in all it's not a bad set up but be wary of the guy if he's saying one thing but the motor tells a different story. |

| Junior Member | yeah thats true, im just gunna go with the other type r i was chosing from. the first type r is a 2001 with only 50,000 km but has that gsr bottom, paint has a lil scratch on fender thats it. the other one is a 1999 type r with 100,000 on it but is a true type r with full type r motor (c5) and im getting them for basicly the same price. i say go with the 1999, what do u guys think? |

| Junior Member | The only difference between a type-r and a gsr is the head , pistons, intake manifold, throttle body, header, and tranny that has lsd. Correct me if I'm missing anything. Now if you have the head then you the best part far as the bottom end goes just put some type-r pistons in it an call it a day. But if they want to charge type-r money than don't get. |
