Just wondering if any of you K series guys know what is entailed in transplanting a 2005 Accord K24 into a 2002 RSX.

In for details.... I have thought this would be fun to do with my old ladys 03 RSX base, it just passed 100k miles.

nah, just looking for a simple motor replacement and flip and I've got a line on a cheap accord motor.

this is what i found

Yes the k24 can fit into any RSX. All RSX's use the k20 engine. Both the k24 & the k20 have the same engine mounts. The only thing you'll need to do is use the k24's cross beam. k24 are a bit taller than the k20. If you don't use the cross beam from k24 ... then you can't close the hood properly on the RSX. You could fabricate a custom hole/vent in the RSX hood or go build a fiberglass hood with a bit of a hump on it.The other think to worry about is that the engine from the TSX (k24a2) is very different from the k24's from Accord, Element, CRX. Mainly, the k24a2 uses fly by wire, so you'll have to not only use the k24a2 ecu, but also convert a bunch of stuff to deactivate the fly by wire feature.

yea, thats about all i found too, lol
looks like B series, with each motor having its own little quirks
the tsx is the drive by wire, the accord isn't
and i guess the crv could work too, but who knows about the IM and exhaust manifolds

i think it might be less aggravation to just do a base k20 motor

i did some research too... looks like an accord k24 only makes about 170whp stock tuned with kpro, but it is very torquey. the TSX k24 is a LOT more expensive but makes a lot of power when tuned. but seems to be a pretty direct swap from what i can gather. using a kpro and tuning it takes care of all the sensor issues.

You have a K20A2 or K20A3 right now?

If its the A2.....you could make a Frankenstein and run k-pro/I/H/E w/225+whp on a dyno tune.

If you have an A3......I would leave the Accord motor whole. If the TB is drive by wire (like 06+ Civic Si)...easiest is a K20A2 TB and an adapter from Karcepts (and oem gaskets) then it will retain the wire system instead of that electrical crap.

Best K24 is the TSX K24A2 its the same hp (give or take) as the 02-06 RSX-S and 06-10 Civic Si but the TSX has more torque. Best TSX are the 06-08 (06-08 K24A2 camshafts are very sought after for OEM set ups :shrug2:) But they are like $2200+ for a 06-08 $1900-2200 for 04-05

I know to run a K24 in my EGg...you need to use the OEM K24 CRV cast iron mount that actually attaches to the block on the timing chain side. I do not know if this translates to a RSX.

But the ECU......best-best-best is K-Pro.....all day long. But its priced up there. Guys act like it hold its value like nothing else in the world. Good deal is $750. But the 02-04 PRB (K20A2) ECU is the best ECU for K-pro if you run a 6-speed trans (reverse lock out is not programed in the 5-speed ECU's) Plus K-pro will work for any K-series set up......nitrous, turbo, blah blah blah

I thought the Accord was still a cable TB??? If so.....that ECU will work with the ECU but you have to do something with the immobilizer to work in your set up......not too sure about that but have read guys taking it to the dealer for some reprogramming magic :shrug2:

I am K-swapping in my EGg as of this moment :D Will be running in a week
K20-R complete swap from Hmotors. ASP Header/K-tuned Intake/ASP 3"/ Vibrant Muffler/Virgin Type R ECU

Here's a RBC (06-10 Civic Si K20Z3) Intake Manifold on my Type R head. It has longer runners and they flow better on top end (esp w/cams/RDX injectors/70mm TB) and I got it online for $198 shipped from a dealer. But you have to run an adapter to fit my Type R TB to the IM and the IACV hoses are too short. Plus the idle air assist tube but its not needed for a swap.

Here's a pic of the adapter between the Tb and IM

if your just gona flip it, it would be much easier and cost wise to just put what it has in it.

Didn't see it was for a flip only....easier to just get another K20A3...but if the motor he found is a cable TB....you just needs the ECU, some plugs need to be spliced or parts/sensors swapped over from the A3 motor and I think you may need the CRV mount. And there is a different dust shield on the bottom between the motor and trans.

so the car is a rsx-s
i'm wondering how hard it'll be to put the whole k24 from a 2005 accord into it

from what i think i know so far it would be the rsx harness, type s ecu and 6 speed, accord cross beam to allow for the larger deck height

But you really should leave it alone and flip it (unless it has uber duber miles) For a fun build with nice numbers.....use the K20A2 (RSX-S) top end on that K24 accord bottom end. Putting the whole K24 Longblock in iss like taking a GSR engine out and putting a B20 Longblock in......

So you need the cross beam? I know the K24 is taller so I guess it makes sense.....just not sure thats the only solution

i've read that you can't use the rsx-s head with the accord/crv/element block w/stock pictons
the only "easy" type s head swap is onto a tsx k24 with the higher compression and valve reliefs in the pistons

i'm trying to take a type s and just make it run and drive to sell it
not worth the money to put a type s motor back in it
at least to me, lol
business is business

You can put that accord bottom on your top end. But you cannot rev it too high. I wouldn't rev it to the limit of the virgin PRB ECU you got in it now. The TSX bottom can handle higher revs for sure. I found a K20A2 (RSX-S) longblock with a few parts missing (harness, IM, accessories) $1400. You will get more out of it if it has the type S motor but I see your situation.

But in terms of putting this K24 block vs that one.....they all mount in your chassis the same.

eh... i dunno about the valve clearance on the accord k24 with k20 head

Assembling a sticky! Who Know's something about K24/K20 Frank Setups?? - K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum
Will except K20 head (straight bolt on), yes/no and why.
K24A1 (crv) - yes
New Compression Ratio:
K24A2 (tsx) - yes
New Compression Ratio: Around 10.2:1 ?
*K24A3 (element) - no, valve clearance issues
New Compression Ratio: As stock cannot be used, compression depends on choice of aftermarket.
*K24A4 (accord) - no, valve clearance issues
New Compression Ratio: As stock cannot be used, compression depends on choice of aftermarket.

lol, man i love trying to do research on hondas
half the people don't know wtf they are talking about

gotta love it right?
