Default DC4 Rear Strut Brace Question

Hey there, I was wondering if any of you guys with DCs have installed rear strut braces. If you have a DC Teg, then you've probably seen in the trunk where you can remove the little plastic covers to access where the rear struts are bolted in. Do you have to cut out the plastic pieces that run across the middle of the openings to install a rear strut brace?

I cut mine with a hole saw in my EG8. It looks more or less like a factory mod because it's cut cleanly.
