This is a discussion on DOHC head swap on D16 in the Integra forum
Out of curiosity, if you were to take any d series motor, wouldnt it be possible to make it DOHC using the Head off of a 86-89 acura integra since they use a D16a1 motor...

not really a noob, just not sure what the difference between the two D series motors that would allow it. Im smart enough to know you cant put a B series head onto a D block, but unless you've tried, putting a D16 head on a D16 block seemed like it would work, not really looking for smart ass answers

only reason i asked was i knew that you obv cant to D block- B head, but i was trying to figure out if you could go D block- D head, hence why i specifically said the D16 dohc, but yeah its answered and i had no interest in testing my theory on it, just one of those questions that bothered the hell outta me

i know what you're saying.. but i think everyone else thinks you mean a DOHC head on a SOHC block. regardless, i still don't think it's do-able. | |

Yes, you can do it, will it take lots of fabricating? Yes. Is it worth it, unless you want spend lots of money and time for no real gain in preformance? No.

i did mean a DOHC on a SOHC block, but specifically the D series DOHC head thats on late integras before the B series was put in, i figured if its possible your prolly just better off putting a LS motor in anyways
