blew my stock b18a1 in my 90 integra gs a/t, now I found this engine in my buddy's accord he was usin to race...from the looks of it it's a d-16, but he said it was from an 89 prelude, which from what I've been told will fit...but I wanna take everything and do an auto/man conversion using all the stuff from this other car(axles are new, 5-speed tranny good, just needs clutch)...including the shifter and the pedal assembly, and ecu...
Now I don't wanna even attempt this if it's gonna cost me more than about 200 in other parts, machine-work, etc. so will this work? This isn't a performance swap, it's a desparation swap just because my integra has a perfect body, more new parts outside the engine than any car I've owned and maintained and I just don't wanna sell it(best offer I got was 300). Other questions... If this will work, are there any parts I can take from my b18a1(throttle body, intake, water pump, timing belt which are all new in my teg)? I'll try and determine exactly what engine and tranny but I just got this news and I didn't wanna jump into something not even possible. I'm already gettin way too excited, I've wanted to do something like this since I got the car. Thanks for any help, violently angry criticism is comforting to me so don't hold back. |

yarr, well he's giving me all the stuff, and he told me I can pay him back in my own time, and I can't get a loan to save me, otherwise it'd have somethin special in it now. I've got around 300. Any ballpark estimates how much more I'll have to dump into it? And, I can't find any info on this swap, I'm assuming because like you said it's a waste of time but for free I just wanna see if there are any half-assed ways to do the whole conversion, I just need something to get me rollin until I can do better.
Any idea how much I can get outta my drivetrain? Either the block or the tranny is fried, when it blew there was this horrendous grinding coming from around the torque converter, but then again it was so loud it could've been coming from the block. Can't diag it myself or look at the tranny til I have it out, but I could get a couple dollars sellin it as is am I wrong? at least to someone who can rebuild it or diagnose it? or ebay? |
