Default Hiprospeed

Dont know if you have come across the hiprospeed web site yet but if you have let me know what you think. It seems kind if like an auto zone performance isle but i said what the hell and ordered a header from there and it was like 125bucks shipped for stailess. Yes, I know it will rust sooner or later but I couldnt spring the 300 for a ceramic coated one. Just let me know what you think.Welcome to the HiProSpeed Performance and Auto Accessories Store!

Uh...I think you got that the wrong way around...stainless is the one that doesn't rust. On the other hand, most ceramic headers are made of mild steel, so if the ceramic coating chips off, then they might actually rust.

From what ive seen, the stainless ones change colors and then rust. Did you check out the site?

Yeah, they do change colors, that's what happens when you heat up stainless steel. They shouldn't rust though, at least not for years and years and years, unless maybe they're made of some ultra-cheap grade of stainless.

That's why all the high-end exhaust systems are made of stainless steel, because it won't rot out...well that and because it flows well, is fairly light weight, and looks nice.

And yeah, I looked at the site, pretty good selection of stuff. I wonder about the quality for those prices though.

Yeah, if you're going to go the el-cheapo route I'd recommend Megan. I've got their strut braces and one of their headers and I'm pretty happy with them so far. For the money they make decent stuff.

But yeah, give us your input on that header once you get it.

On the stainless headers rusting (the cheap ones)

They will use stainless pipe and a stainless flange, then they'll weld em together with normal welding wire, which rusts. Its rediculously stupid. But they can claim "stanless" and dont have to pay for the stainless welding equipment / wire.

Whats up guys, got my header today and got it in. Bolted the thing up pretty easy and ran it around to see if it changed the tone at all. I got back and looked at the header and its a nice shade of gold and it looks very cool. It was cheap too and it came with new gaskets.
