Default Airjockie's retirement plan

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

If you had purchased $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

It's called the 401-Keg Plan.

it works for me....

I'm actually making $100ish a day on my 401K's... it about $25,750 right now...it jumped the other day $200... hehe.

But last week it dropped down $50 once... , but most of my shit is sitting in the safe stocks....hehe And dumping in $230 a week also makes it go crazy...when the company matches my money and they dump in $70... $300 a week into savings...FTMFW... not bad for just 3-4 years of doing it.

sadly....the AZN tv had a news story yesterday... some thrifty kid, saved everything he made, spent wizely, and in two years his bank account was around 1,000,000,000 yen.... and the yen to dollar right now is 121. Plus they did a study, most Americans don't even have $10Ks in the bank, and more than 80% don't even have $1000 in their name.

IF I quit smoking and drinking, and stop hanging out in the garage on the internet with the propane heater cranking...I'd save $650 a month...

I quit drinking last month, for two weeks, felt better, lost a little weight,,,but got bored. Then drank again, now I can't get enough food in my stomach, and I'm back up to 236 lbs.

$650/month is payments on a brand new STi and depending how long you stretch it for a new twin turbo BMW 335xi.

That solves your "what to buy" dilemma right there and gives you a new, fast, pimp, and reliable car.

sti payments are less than that. mine was 525 or some shit, and i only put down like 2k.

the 335i is over-rated, not to mention there's no such thing as a 335xi

Plenty of people are paying $650/month for STis. It all depends for the financing rate <which has gone up> and the amount of time you stretch the loan over. There's so many different factors when it comes to car loans.

And I was under the impression that the new 2008 335 was called a 335xi, rather than a 335i.

Its a more powerful M3, when its chipped to unlock the power it should be making, with a lesser suspension and other goodies...

There's a reason why they just bumped the M3 to 8cylinders rather than the inline 6cyl its been forever. The 335 is too close to the M3 now.

I had most of my money in one stock, took a dip for awhile. Took a couple years to bounce back. Leaned diversity is better, if one goes down at least you still have all the other to back it up......until the market takes a dump.

Read what I wrote, explicitly; 'When its unlocked'. Chip it, you have more power with ease.

I'm failing to see here, what this thread is about. I read the first post and its about a status symbol...

If I was interested in just status, I would have bought a luxury car and not have sank more money into my econobox WRX than people who are buying a few year old luxuries pay.

Ya know Clayton, I'm amazed with the amount of time you spend in your garage that you haven't bought an outdoor wood/oil furnace yet....

i'm telling you man, drive one back to back.

the wrx vs the sti is night and day power wise... but the rest of the car is pretty damn close.
the same cannot be said for the e90 vs e46

B, everyone in the thread, short of being status snobs, said the same thing I did. Those who offered constructive criticism spoke of the software that will be available to make the e90 a monster and how it has a better ride for a daily driver, but its less of a harsh, all out sports car then the M. Others said the difference is men and women and basically about how you won't envy e90 owners if you're a M owner.

The difference lies mainly in the suspension which can easily be fixed. The e90 has more potential. Personally, I'd prefer the brand new car. Everything is new, there's no scratches or wear and tear. If I want a stiffer suspension than I'll buy a stiffer suspension. If I want to upgrade brakes and brake pads, I'll upgrade those. Swaybars and other misc. suspension parts? Sure. I still have a brand new car, in warranty, with everything covered along with brand new technology - not technology thats 4years old and in another 4yrs will seem dated.

I had the opportunity for a '95 M3 but I turned it down for the 2002 WRX. Just my opinion and preference. Sure, its the status of a ///M3 but its 7years older than my car, which is now virtually 5-6 model years old.

I see not as fortunate people in the "hood" driving around their early 90's BMW's and Benz, so they can say they drive those brands. In the end, I'd prefer the newer car without any of the headaches.

Don't get me wrong, I love the M3 and sometimes would prefer the more plush ride but I didn't want to sacrifice in terms of the age and wear and tear put on the car. If I could've gotten a M3 that was a 2000+ for what I paid for the WRX, of course I'd be sitting in it now. Most of us, however, have to make compromises about where we spend our money.

Lastly, there's a huge difference between STi and WRX, night and day for everything. Transmission, engine, brakes, suspension, seats, exterior, interior, etc.
