Default another awsome job

alright i forgot all about this vid till 91CRX put up his thread and i didnt want to thread jack him.

I worked for a welding company that was sub contracted out for FPL (Florida Power Lights) well they have power line poles that around 30 to 50 years old. and the bottom of them need to be reinforced and thus calls for welders. alright well along my time of working with this company i got a chance to video this other company who changed out insulators on the power lines. and the way they get these guys at the top of the pole is nuts

they cant use a bucket lift. i watched a show on these guys a while back. those lines are positively charged, if they were on a bucket lift, which would be on the ground and therefor grounded well, they would probably be electrocuted pretty fast. they fly up in the chopper, and reach a pole to the line when they come close.
that in turn puts a postively charged field around the chopper and the guy. then the guy jumps to the lines, and holds the pole out on the chopper, when the chopper gets far enough away the pole is retracted and the chopper is out of the field.

pretty cool stuff. lots of people seem to die from that job.

theres more to it than that.
they have to do it a certain way or else they will be electrocuted.
anybody who does that job, is a real man.

all i know is while i was sitting there doing nothing it was pretty cool to watch. and with the chopper it gets the job done ALOT faster. remember these lines run all the way through florida. hence FLORIDA power lights. not just this section and that section power and lights.
