lol

i have dish network
im not overly impressed
i have 180 channels of NOTHING

i have like 12 home shopping channels
2 channels of 24hr horse racing
5 nickelodeons
6 channels of televangelism
4 different versions of lifetime
the weather channel without any of the "local on the 8's" information
3 channels of game shows
2 golf stations
a reality TV station
a soap opera channel
at least 10 channels that are basicly public access

its a fucking joke
sure theres a lot of channels but 90% of them are fucking worthless
i kinda like having 5 discovery channels and 3 history channels... but that is about the only thing that i have seen as a bonus so far
speed sucks, it might as well be the fucking nascar channel
the 9 HBOs never have shit worth watching on them
the 11 channels in the Showtime unlimited package all suck balls too
ive got all of the regular local network stations but they all suck ass and i never watched them before so i dont really give a fuck about them now either

so now with about 3 times as many channels as i use to have, i still watch the same 5 fucking channels that i watched before, because nothing is on any of the other fucking channels

at least with most digital cable services you can get "on demand"... sure the selection isnt always the best but it gives you a hell of a lot more options
you can pick from about 300 different movies (updated all the time)
you can watch entire seasons of shows like the sopranos
you can watch all of the rally races that they played on speed when you were sleeping
and you can start them and stop them whenever you want

digital cable > satelite TV

i just wish i didnt have such a shitty cable company... i cant wait for comcast to buy out my area

ok so that was about 2 weeks after i got the dish
now about another month later, it has been about the same
the channles still suck, there still isnt shit on
but one more big issue has shown up.... signal loss

today for instance... its fucking pouring outside.... its one of those days that you just want to lounge out and watch TV.... but i cant because the fucking dish isnt getting any signal !!!
this has happened 4 times since i got this service... i'd be sitting there watching something and the damn dish would just cut out... sometimes i would only lose a few chanels... most of the time it would come back within a short amount of time... so far today this fucking dish has been out for almost 2 hours
i tried calling the number it says on the help screen for customer support to see if there is anything i can do about this... after dicking around with the automated system for about 10 minutes i finally get to talk to a real person... wooo hooo!... so he asks me for some account information... then tells me he has to transfer me to the proper dept...
then the fucker HANGS UP ON ME!!!
now if i want to call back i will have to fuck with that stupid recording again...
:wtf2:
i really think im going to go back to my old shitty cable service... there was less channels, but just as much worth watching... and the service almost never went out so i actually had SOMETHING TO WATCH!!!!!

Dish Network is fucking garbage

I have cable, and know people with satellite, and they have the same complaints. At least the only time you really get service outages with cable is when some jackass plows into a carrier pole.

thats what im saying... when i had cable even though it was a shitty company, i still only lost service MAYBE once a year

5 times in a month and a half is fucking rediculous

My parents used to have Direct TV and the same shit would happen. It sucks even worse when you have a heavily wooded lot.

I'll never go back to cable. But you see, my area is "TeleMedia", and it's the oldest - Shittiest cable company in the COUNTRY. That's right, it's rated lowest of the lows in every industry report. I have two coax's that come out of the wall - A and B. A is in state, and B is out of state. That means that I have to get up, walk to the switch, and switch it over.

Also, Basic cable for Telemedia is $65 a month. Yes, $65 a month for basic cable, 18 channels (And 12 in state!). Shopping networks and spanish channels abound.

I got my friend's unlock for Turkish television, but other than that I'm on Dish's middle grade service. I've had the satellite burp a few times, but the quality is 1000x better.

Again, my cable company is the worst in the free world.

Direct TV rocks. I have cable...... I miss my direct TV =(

anywho. It's all about the placement of the dish.

95% of the people tend to mount the dish out in the open. At my parents house my dad mounted the dish on the side of the house where there was a slight overhang just over the dish. Direct TV went out maybe ONCE a year. and that is during a 2feet + snow storm.

I have Direct TV at my work, the dish is mounted on our roof with nothing near it to cover it from rain/snow. The dish goes out often! if it rains at all hard, the dish tv goes out =(

Once again, becuase of how we mounted the dish (flat roof)

I think the company i work for bought some of telemedia's stuff in the south.. that area took FOREVER to upgrade to specs...

I love my cable.. Of course it is $18 a month for every channel, internet and a DVR box. so I can't really complain.
Personally I don't like satellite service due to it's lack of cheap high speed and it's problems with the weather. Every winter at my parents house we had to go out and de-ice the dish because ice would build up on it

i used to have direct tv and had no problems, even in a blizzard. now i have dish, hate it and lose signal when it rains, and not alot of channels compared to direct tv. since I live in my friends house and he has had dish for 2 years, i cant change it to direct :(
but oh well, he pays for it and I dont, so i cant complain to much

mmm, i have the highest level comast service- all the benefits of satellite but the power NEVER goes out, and I can On-demand all sorts of movies and shows when ever the hell I want for free

:)
