Well not all people, but these two bitches here at work. Yesterday, I counted 12 smoke breaks over an 8 hour work day. Thats rediculous!!! They dont get any work done yet act like they're always too busy to help you out, allocate work to, or anything else. Not to mention they're fucking dumb as a sack of bricks. Two blonde 22 year old, non college going, ditzy, gullible idiots. (The one that works "with" me has been here over a month and still asks questions about the simplest fucking things that she learned in the first week...)
Plus they're "southern" (no offense to the southeners on here, but they are the stereotypical southern no-education morons) and boy if you say anything bad about any place/thing/person from the south they'll get all pissy. Example, I had to call this woman at her office in Alabama, i got her voice mail and on it she tells me, "remember, god loves you. God bless." Im sorry, i hate that shit, so i briefly mention it to the older woman next to me saying how I think its odd people do that etc.. One of em gets this wicked attitude saying "its southern hospitality, GOD!" I simply ignore her, but thats nto hospitality, thats bible humping cram it down everyones throat crap.
Another thing, they argue all the time... I work in a room with 4 other people, all of who are trying to get work done but its fucking annoying when you have these idiots arguing over the STUPIDEST FUCKING THING!!! I love a good story shared between co-workers... but if one is trying to tell a story (granted they ALL suck, not funny, boring, go nowhere) the other one has to chime in and argue about the stupidest detail... when that happens i turn around and get back to my work.. i could keep going (trust me theres plenty more), but ill stop there....

Back to the topic though, i roll into work today 5 minutes early and one of em is sitting in her car smoking a cig. Thats cool, morning pre-work cig, but dont come into the office 10 minutes late even though you were in t he parking lot 5 min early... Its 10 and they've already had one, i feel another one coming pretty soon. Probbaly like yesterday too, both go out to smoke 15 min before lunch, come in with 2 min til lunch then go to lunch... AND come back 15 minutes late. I've talked about this with the other two people i work with in my dept, they dont like it either. My boss however doesnt seem to mind because he doesnt see it and he isn't going to do anything about it either... probably because he thinks they're cute and tries to flirt with them all day.

The kicker is, i took a 5 min break, from my report that takes me 6 hours to do, to surf the net and check on some sports news and my email. Boss comes in and pretty much tells me I can't do it (i still do, fuck it) for some bs reason. And everytime I do, like to post this for instance, the stupid fucking girls always have to point it out... "oooo seans on the internet!!" How come non-smokers cant take a 5 minute break every few hours when smokers can take multiple ones a day for 10 mins at a time?!!? There are other smokers here but they definately dont abuse it.

i hated when i was in the air force people would take smoke breaks all the time. working the flightline, jets were the priority and often times we wouldn't even get lunch. but yet, they find time to fucking smoke. what makes it worse, they would throw the butts on the ground when nobody is looking.

finally, i just got to the point where i was like "fuck it" they are going on "smoke breaks" so i'm going on "fresh air breaks" and would go outside to. you should go with them so people notice everybody is missing.

Yeah i dont want to hang out with people who make fun of ME for going to college and getting a degree...

i work at the national distribution center for Unicel, a small cell phone company that mainly operates in rural areas where the big boys dont want to invest time and money into. I'm the inventory management manager, so I overlook the warehouse inventory, shipments coming in, phone returns, insurance returns, refurb/loaner phones, etc. And we also control the inventory system for all the stores and agent stores (non unicel stores that sell unicel phones).

the worst thing about smokers at work is they get smoke breaks AND bathroom breaks. fukkers should be made to wear some diapers to work to make up for their frequent 'gone' status. that'd probably fix it. so would putting duct tape over their mouths so they'd have to stick their cigs in their nostril to get a puff.

i get the feeling my ideas won't be popular.

ps my personal smoking-related rant is the nonchalant pitching of cig butts out car windows, and the 'oops i dropped it in the parking lot' routine. i punch their faces off in my dreams.

12 smoke breaks is redic.

on a 9-5 shift, i took 1 at about 11, then on my lunch, then 1 at 330.

so, technically, 2 smoke "breaks".

I encourage tea time. Our company offers a break in the morning, lunch break, and that's about it. Then I go a step farther to get people off task for a "tea time". That made up for my smoke breaks (3 on a stressful day)

But now I don't smoke, and I just crank away at work all day long along with everyone else.

Well, an 8 hour shift, as a rule, gets one 15 minute break one 30 minute lunch, then another 15 minute break. Everyone should get this, smoker or not. Smokers should cram in their chemical fix within those time periods. Then get their asses back to work like everyone else.

When I was the boss of many, I made them ask "may I go commit slow suicide". to which I would reply, "if you hate yourself that much".

It made me feel better, anyway.

i would say that i started smoking and just go out there and hold a cig. right after they get back.

or keep tabs and write the times down.
time out/in then take just as much time from your desk or along with the other non smokers. theyll be the only ones in there.

Lockheed Martin banned all smoking and smoking/tobacco materials from ALL sites globally starting 1/1/2007. You can't smoke close to the building, you can't smoke in the lot- you have to leave the premises. You're not supposed to even have it in your car, but they typically won't search you... unless you're in a security clearance required location.

I think it's wonderful. Of course the smokers hate it- but the company is putting a lot of money out towards helping people quit too.

I'd love to quit smoking myself, I'd make it fine all weekend, but come monday morning I'd wander in to the office and with My dad, sharon, jeremy, bobby and Kathy smoking... I wouldn't last 5 minutes.
