We were told to plant a little extra just incase. We figure if we are able to get atleast $100 worth of stuff it will be worth it.

it doesn't take much to get your money back with todays food prices. 3 or 4 tomatoes is $5 these days, so if you grow 50 tomatoes, you made $100.
50 toms can be had on 3 or 4 plants. so, you'r easily in the green.

me and the woman are going to give it a go this year.. built a 5'x 8'raised box yesterday out of some 2x6's i had laying on the side of the house .. had a pile of leaves from fall that had broken down so i mixed those in w/ the dirt on the bottom.. gonna get some soil this weekend probably and mix everything good.. there is a water faucet right over the box so i'll probably get a piece of old hose, cap the end and drill some holes in it to water evenly and slowly

i think we're going to grow stuff for salsa for now and see the outcome.. tomatoes, jalapenos, onion, and cilantro .. most of it will end up going to our grandmas.. but we'll have a few batches of some killer salsa
B likes this.

beans are huge, almost ready to go outside.
i need to clean up the floor, i know. i spill dirt ever day when i move them to water them

blueberry bushes:

cherry tree (look for the white wrapped mid left):

blackberrys:

concord grapes

let's see if these take. The blueberries all have a couple new leaves already (i put these in about a week ago)./ No action on any others.

I cleaned up the front of the house last week and re-did the flower beds.

After:

I'm only 1 guy with a bad back who gets home from work with an hour of day light left this time of year, so I get done what I can when i can.

After we get some rain, i'll get the mower out and do the back yard.

That is how my lawn looked 4 years ago. It has been a battle but I now have it back to healthy. I will get pics of my projects up this weekend.

Any updates from you guys? My garden is doing well. I got several zucchini and squash so far. I will probably have an abundance coming soon and they grow quick. My radishes grew and we are waiting til August to replant. My lettuce did good but started to grow up and get bitter so those plants were tossed and we plan to replant. Other than that my tomatoes and peppers are coming along well.

my garden is shit this year. i'm infested with bugs. they've pretty much eaten 80% of the leaves on all my plants. I haven't even weeded it in a month. it's a disaster. My corn is doing ok, but thats about it. If i get anything out of it this year, it will be a miracle. But, there are plenty of buds. no actual fruit yet though.

I need to get chickens or a pesticide next year, the latter i don't really want to do.
