it doesn't need to be outlawed, people just need to understand it's not a "holy union" anymore, but rather a contractual obligation.

If it was simply a union of love and loyalty, there would be no alimony or spousal support. if i commit to a woman, i'm stuck paying for her shit because it's a contract. for some reason i don't think god intended marriage and divorce to have huge financial repercussions.

You're on the right track, but you can't just redefine marriage to be a contractual obligation only. It is by definition a religious ceremony, which is what it needs to remain, the legal aspects need to seperated from it, whether religious people like it or not.

And Taco, I wasn't trying to attack you personally, just trying to make you see that your personal beliefs about a religious activity cannot Constitutionally be enforced on other people. A woman fucking herself with a bolt in front of kids would be considered obscene and thus illegal. Freedom of religious practices ends when it starts to hurt innocent people.

well, there just needs to be a gray area. and leaving anything to interpretation leads to humans fucking it up and making the wrong decision.

we are just too picky and needy. either get married in a civil union ceremony, have a religious wedding, or just be committed.

there should be some way that people have have the same rights as married people without having a title. it's just the right way to do it.

hell, if Brad and Angelina didn't get married, nobody would think twice about who deserves what. but the second two women want to share medical insurance, companies throw a shit fit. a lot of people get married purely for the benefits. which is sad.
