Default Modern Music sucks

So I'm listening to the radio on the way home, flipping through the stations. Ended up on some pop station, and heard two songs in a row: Beyonce's 'Halo' and Kelly Clarkson's 'Already Gone'. A few seconds into the second song I noticed that they sounded exactly the same. They were in the same key, had the same chord progression, and almost the same tempo. Got home and looked them up:

Halo
Beyoncé_Knowles
Co-Written and produced by Ryan Tedder

Already Gone
Kelly Clarkson
Co-written and produced by Ryan Tedder

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
He worked with Kelly Clarkson on her 2009 album All I Ever Wanted, penning the song "Already Gone," as well as with Beyonce on her album I Am… Sasha Fierce, penning the song "Halo." The similarity between the songs "Already Gone" and "Halo" has prompted Clarkson to publicly state that she did not know about Halo and that both songs were co-written by Tedder.

Controversy around the sale of the same musical track to two pop musicians Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson, and the subsequent almost simultaneous release of their singles including it, Halo and Already Gone, respectively, arose in July 2009. Ryan Tedder cowrote both of the songs that cite similarities.
So I put the two songs together to show how close they both are. There are a few examples of people trying to do this on Youtube, but frankly their attempts all suck. I've overlaid the two songs and synced the tempos pretty much perfectly... it's attached here.

Take a listen and tell me these aren't the exact same damn songs:

There's nothing wrong with modern MUSIC. you just didn't happen to be on a music channel--- you were on the corporate "brand" channel.

This is true. I'm just amazed that they'd play these two songs right after each other, and that this hack can get away with releasing the same song twice, at the same time, under two different artists. He didn't even change the key.

It's actually a better song when they're both stuck together.

It isnt all that surprising really. You release one song that goes Platinum right, why not release another with the same key elements? I agree, the corporate branded shit is just that, shit.

Listen to Muse, they're absolutely brilliant. I suggest you start with Origin of Symmetry.
