The B17 is the perfect compromise between B18 and B16. It has a better R/S ratio than the B18 and it has better torque than a B16. In the end, it should be a more reliable motor. We all know that stroke is the only thing separating these motors. I personally prefer the shorter stroke and corresponding less engine stress of the B17a1.

1992 2 door integra GSR: 2643 lbs.
1996 2 door integra GSR: 2667 lbs.

The earlier GSR is a little lighter... 24 lbs in fact. Probably about the weight of the AC unit in the later GSR.

R/S doesn't mean shit. The difference is not that great. The B18C is superior to both the B16 and B17, hands down. In fact, the only stock Honda motor that eclipses the C1/C5 of the DC integras is the K20A. There is a reason that the B17 is rare: it's not that great. The B18C in all its forms are superior. Teh real reason the engine was rear is becuase it was the 1st B series DOHC VTEC engine offered in teh states. Its essentially hte same as the B16...
