| Senior Member | If you have to ask that, then you really should take it somewhere for the body work. Not extremely expensive, but if you tried it yourself...you would screw it up on the first try, no offense.Maybe take it to a shop and ask them if you can watch when they do it if you want to learn. |

Rep Power: 187 | I agree,if you haven't done it before it can be really hard to get right. At our autoshop on post we have a climate controlled spray booth and all the equipment,I still see people fuck it up. |

| Senior Member | It's pretty hard to get right, if you to try it just try doing one fender and see how it comes out. if your happy with the result try the car, if not bring it somewhere and have it done. The prep work is he hardest part everything has to be at the right temp range for the paint you have to make sure there are no waves or dents or any other damage to the surface because it will show through, you have to use the correct combo of primers and paints and above all else all surfaces have to be perfectly clean even the slighest thing and your paint will flake right off.

| Senior Member | It's good that you're getting it back up and going though. I heard Macco (out on Elmira Rd.) has been doing really good paintjobs lately. It will probably cost you less to get the whole car painted than the two pieces, because color matching (even though it's just black) costs a ton more than just a straight paintjob. I was approached by some like 70 year old guy the other day in Kragen (looking for Water Wetter) and he as talking to me about my Mustang, he suggested going over there because he's heard good storys lately.

But if you can get an overcoat for like $300 or less... it might be worth it even if it might only last a couple years.

Rep Power: 102 | I have heard horror stories about macco. My brother bought a mustang that had been painted by macco and it looked like shit. Orange peal (means wavy inperfections in the paint) like crazy, some parts looked like they had runs of paint. They are horrible. Some people said that macco did not even was their car before they painted it. Put it right over the old paint, chips away in a few months. Heard one person had bird shit on his car when he brought it in and when he got his car back, there was a thin layer of paint on the shit. Moral, dont go to macco. Next time there is a classic car show, ask some of those guys where they get their paint at. There is nothing worse then a bad paint job.

The job on my mustang was $5000 like 12 years ago, I don't want to know how much it would be now. I'm not ready to spend that much on paint, and with the crappy insurance settlement he got.. I doubt he is either.

Rep Power: 102 | What my dad did recently when he got a big ass dent in his quarter panel (had to be replaced) when to the insurance company and asked them where the best place they would recomend. Yes true they are going to be a little bias but they normally can tell you a good place and wont have a hassel with insurance. The place where they recomended my dad to did a very nice job, pretty much had to re paint half the car to blend the paint. Looks good, no orange peal and has no paint color disfiguartion. |

Rep Power: 187 | I believe Maaco's are idependaently owned and operated, meaing the quality will vary store to store.I've some really good things about them, and the horror stories. Most off the good ones the people took the car in totally prepped and just had them shoot it. |
