Default Nick got me thinking...

How many of you guys have been, are in the military and what branch?

How many years service too?

My brother got out in 01 as an E4 (I think) from the Army. He worked on the TOW missile guidance systems on the Bradly IFV.

i worked on flight controls, electronic countermeasures, radars, targeting equipment, gps systems, the computer based shit. i had almost a full year in tech school before i even touched an active jet.

there were a lot of reasons.
1.14 hour days and extensive training when some shit bag worked in the gym for 6 hours a day handing out towels and lifting weights got paid the same.
2. i wanted to go to college to make more money and i couldn't. you just don't have the time in the military.
3. never having someone pat you on the back when you do a phenominal job. saved a guys life once and all i got was a handshake.
4. wearing this shit.
5. taking forever to make rank. army and marines get promoted hella quick.

the list goes on and on. there were a few good things though. my career field was in high demand when i got out. i turned down $53,000 if i signed up for 6 more years. my roommate took it. you get half up front and then $5k/year extra.

LOL, you can't spell stuipid without SP ;-)

6 years Aircraft Hydraulic Sytems Craftsman. Made BTZ, sewed on SSGT at 3 years 7 months TIS, even got t test for Tech once before I got out. I was working two jobs, 75 hours/week, never cracked the PFE or my CDC's and still only missed my line number by 19 points lol.

But yeah if you go in, don't do security forces or aircraft maintenance. The ammount of output required for the same pay and usually less respect then half of the other jobs get is crazy.

Fuck man I still have nightmares when I hear the word LSET

Air Farts, 3 years, F-15 Crew Chief, and loved the travel.

as for aircraft maintenance...there's plenty of jobs when you get out...you just need to attain an A&P licence...after that..then your set.

And when I'm seeing contracts for 1500+ heli's in the next 5 years...and were making only 120 a year now...that tells you something....mass hiring spree has started....

Lackland, imagine being at the same base for basic, tech school, and then finding out that's your first base. Then Robins AFB, (Home), then Kirtland AFB, and Finally Osan. only 4 deployments and countless tdy's

Never really heard anyone complain bout sheppard. The only thing I didn't like about Lackland was that if I had stayed there too long I would've gotten in trouble, too much eye candy . All those females in tech school, and then they had to have that rule where they couldn't mingle with permanent party
