Default Official 2012 Fish....blah...blah ...blah

I've been going out constantly this year since Jan, and with the warm weather...the bite from last year has been faster. I've already got plenty of striped bass to feed a village, and will still get more. This location has to wait for other fish to migrate to, but the Northeast Tautog "blackfish", just started april 1st, and the weather kept me off the water or it was too cold for them to feed....

But today, the tides changed...literally...went from high tide to slack...and the black fish started to bite...and the first fish landed would beat my record from last year by 1/2 an inch. Followed by more large blackfish...

going for more fish all year. Blackfish, Bluefish, Striped bass, and I even have ambitions to get a shark or two.

3 fish one worm...windy and cold.

Nice man! i know those stripers fight hard. Ive never eaten them though, are they good? i would imagine its pretty white and flaky, if its like other bass.

Sadly, couldn't tell you. I never took one home. They have to be over 28" for a keeper, and these stripers I got were out of a PCB laiden river. When the big girls come in from the ocean in a few weeks, then I'll take one home for the grill.

I can tell you that those blackfish are the best tasting fish I've ever had. All they eat is crabs, oysters, clams, and shrimp. My number one fav for sashimi, and they make a perfect cerviche.

Maryland is offering $200 gift cards for capture of the northern snakehead invasive species
just a heads up, might be worth a fishing expedition

wow $200 a fish? that could be very lucrative if you found a honey hole. I have heard of some hot spots in south FL where guys are getting them regularly, but i have never seen one personally. I guess these things are spreading everywhere.

One photo uploaded on Thursday by recreational angler Berry shows him with seven dead snakehead. He says he had to shoot them with a gun. Berry wrote that the snakehead have been noticeably devastating the local bass population. "The snakehead are simply taking over the spawning grounds," he wrote.
this might be more of a task than i first assumed, lol

Nice looking fish amigo.

I'm trying to convince my girlfriends dad to get a tugger so we can go shrimping when the season starts.

I need to head out soon, the weather is perfect! Though, I have plans for mainly beach fishing; I need to invest in a good surf rod or find some good piers.

I took my 5 year old nephew to our local trout derby this morning. He nailed this 3lb lunker and won the whole dang thing, even beat the 14 year old kids

Yup... i have quite a few tattoos here and there.

Been fishing a couple times in the last week... First I took my new little jon boat bassing machine out on its maiden voyage. It was a windy day, but the bass were attacking schooling baitfish in open water. I was able to pick up 18 fish, all caught on crankbaits. Heres a couple pics from that morning.

A few days later we flew up to Pennsylvania for a wedding, and I managed to get a morning of fishing in. I had never caught a smallmouth bass before, so this was really a treat. My fiancees uncle has a great river boat, rigged up with a jet drive motor and every other bell and whistle. I had never fished a rocky northern river like the Susquehanna, it was really fun. Caught some nice fish too, up to a 4 pounder!

Went out last saturday to Alum Creek here in Ohio. Fishing for Crappie. Caught a total of 12, 9 of which were over 9 inches and 3 over 11 inches.

Here's my largest one of the day 12.5 inches. Made some awesome dinner with them.

My girl caught 2 of these bad boys. the other was about an inch shorter.

I haven't been to Alum Creek in a while. I renewed my license last month and still haven't put it to use.
