Competed in my first Solo 2 divisional over the weekend. My main goal was to not embarass myself. I didn't.
Came in 4th outta 9 in class behind the 4-time DSP National Champ (Fiat X-1/9>everyone) and two other Nationally run cars. This was also my first time running in the rain. Saturday's numbers sucked but I learned and did a lot better on Sunday. I ended up 88th out of 141 overall but 1/2 of those bastards got to run on dry pavement. On both Saturday and Sunday it rained right before my session No vid but pix should be up by tomorrow Class: D-STREET PREPARED ------------------------------------------------------- 1t 27/DSP STEVE HOELSCHER NEW MARKET AL > 116.004 < 80 FIAT X1/9 HOOSIER HOOSIER/AAMCO/MID-ATLANTIC SAT: 1) 60.773 2) 60.134 3) 58.455 SUN: 1) 58.640 2) 58.606 3) 57.549 2t 40/DSP MIKE TAYLOR MARIETTA GA > 117.676 < 88 PONTIAC GRAND AM HOOSIER BONDO/KRYLON SAT: 1) DNF 2) 61.192 3) 59.444 SUN: 1) 62.602 2) 58.676 3) 58.232 3t 109/DSP SPENCER STUBBS CHARLOTTE NC > 120.681 < 95 PLYMOUTH NEON ACR KUMHO AMERICAN NEON RACING/ MAILSYST SAT: 1) 64.909 2) 62.575 3) 60.774 SUN: 1) 63.108 2) 60.230 3) 59.907 4. 24/DSP PRATT STANLEY PERRY GA > 123.245 < 92 HONDA CIVIC FALKEN SAT: 1) DNF 2) DNF 3) 63.183 SUN: 1) 61.437 2) 60.062 3) 66.589( 1) 5. 7/DSP KENNETH INGERSOLL SPARTANBURG SC > 123.585 < 91 NISSAN 240SX KUMHO WWW.HIGHTACH.COM SAT: 1) DNF 2) 63.915 3) 63.136 SUN: 1) DNF 2) 62.214 3) 60.449 6. 9/DSP MICHAEL KEOGH ROCK HILL SC > 124.061 < 95 PLYMOUTH NEON ACR KUMHO MAIL SYSTEMS/ANR SAT: 1) 67.478 2) DNF 3) 63.019 SUN: 1) 61.942 2) DNF 3) 61.042 7. 124/DSP MIKE REILLY MACON GA > 127.043 < 92 HONDA CIVIC FALKEN SAT: 1) 67.024 2) DNF 3) 64.151 SUN: 1) DNF 2) 64.457 3) 62.892 8. 81/DSP BRYAN CAMERA COCHRAN GA > 128.907 < 82 FIAT X19 HOOSIER CAMERA RACING SAT: 1) DNF 2) 66.428 3) 64.753 SUN: 1) DNF 2) 64.154 3) 64.318 9. 51/DSP FRED PINCZUK NORCROSS GA > DNF < 19 FIAT X1/9 KUMO SAT: 1) DNF 2) DNF 3) 68.037 SUN: 1) DNS 2) DNS 3) DNS |

If that was your first time, that was REALLY good.
The Fiat x-19 is a pretty good DSP car. They are pretty light. What else do you have done to your car? __________________

My first Divisional.. prolly my 8th auto-x ever
mods are mainly to the susp other than I/H/E... I run a Purple Horny header muffler when I race. Not sure if it adds any ponies but it sure sounds like a beast. Because this is still a hobby and not an obsession, I'm running on Falken's. As you can see, my car was the only one not running on slicks (I know the Hoosiers/Kuhmos aren't technically slicks but...come on) Weighed my car while I was there. 2085# w/ full interior w/out me & a 1/2 tank of gas in race trim. 2275# with me in it. The Fiat weighs 1400# w/out the driver and he's running a 1500cc motor with ITB's and professionally tuned vs my 1.6L VTEC on 100K miles spark plugs. He was putting on rain tires and dropped the car with the jack from about 2 feet. The car just stuck, no bounce. The guy wins Nationals by 2-3 seconds over 2nd place. He only beat my mildly prepared, inexperienced self by a scant 7.241 seconds!!! ![]() |
