Default Someone was in my car last night

So went out to my car this morning and things from my
center console were on the passenger seat. The glove box was open, and
my ash tray which has keys to my truck and a lighter in it were on the
floor of the passenger side. The only thing missing from my car is a
bag that I tote around some computer bits, cables, an external hard
drive etc...

I'm pretty sure someone stole it yet took nothing else of
value like my radio, my sirius radio, radar detector etc... only the
useless bag

So is it worth while to report this to the police?

Yup! If they get caught messing with someone else's car in the area its likely your charge will be rolled up into that one, and give them a longer sentence and/or a bigger fine and more probation.

You won't benefit at all, and you won't get anything back, but you'll make the thieve's life a little more miserable if he gets caught. And its always good to have a police report for insurance, etc.

Yup reporting it could mean more time for them. So depending how much time your willing to spend on it you should report it.

yeah I'd definitely report it. Something similar happened to me about 5 years ago. Left my window cracked at work and they forced it down to steal the faceplate for my radio, leaving $1500 worth of golf clubs in the back seat. My insurance company required the report.

I guess if you don't plan on making any type of insurance claim the report won't really matter other than the cops will have something on record.

Ya and what if they come back for your other shit? Then you will definitely report it but the cops will be wondering what happened the first time.

Well, I reported the incident, and I was informed that at least 4 other neighbors on my road alone had the same report. I'm the only one that had anything but money stolen. ie. change in the ashtray etc.. I was also told there were at least 30 reports from the surrounding area.

The police have a strong suspicion this is related to a high school game. I remember in high scholl a game we played called assassin. Basically you paid $5 to play and you got a list of targets you had to shoot with a water pistol, there were rules etc... top assassin won the money. Well the police think instead of playing a very simple game of assassin they are now playing a game of how many cars can you raid and have proof of it.

I was thinking about getting out my pellet hand gun and waiting out at night for the little fuckers but I doubt they'll be back anytime soon.

i used to play that, we called it KAOS (killing as an organized sport). i'd be a fan of more people playing it - but by the RULES, which include not fucking with anyone else's shit except someone else who is playing the game WITH you.

sorry about the break in, but at least they didn't wreck the car up. :whew:

Where i'm from the cops will kill you for doing any of those games just because some people aren't playing games and they don't know that.

I was calculated with my teenage chaos. I would be gone with a sign before someone even looked out their window to see what was happening.

Almost forgot about my favorite game. Tag. Pick a small town, preferably under a square mile. Get 4 or 5 people with cars. The object of the game is to high beam the front of other players' cars. Only one person is it at a time. Cars always have to be moving. No hiding. We stopped playing when the game started resembling a police chase. Pulling in front of somebody, ripping the e-brake, and hitting the high beams while spinning nose to nose with the car you were chasing. No idea how we never crashed into one another.
