Default Where art thou HondaSwap

I used to frequent the boards A LOT... like WAY to much. but, I wanna say it started in like early 06, I just got this urge that HondaSwap was about something that it had never been about before... I cant figure it, I cant pinpoint it...

I just feel HS has evolved into something of little importance...

And, why do I get the feeling that I can not trust anyone on here... I mean I know the OG's, such as myself... but everyday there's an explosion of newbs who sign up and make a bee line for the classifieds... and in doing so they have no real history with s, so its hard to make heads or tails... its hard to figure out if they're a trust worthy seller or not. And I'm not one to take chances...

I guess what I wanna know is where to that good... ole' fashioned community feeling go? It feels like the only reason people post on here or join... is to sell something. If that part doesn't sell, then they never came back.

I used to look to HondaSwap for the answers... before I'd even go anywhere... now, I feel its almost a waste of time logging in... because if I search for anything... I have to sift through 88 pages of stupid threads and even worse responses. Yea, I know what you're thinking, you've gotta do the same shit on Honda-Tech... well thats my point... in the past HS was 10x better than Honda-Tech. Mainly because we had a dedicated MOd Squad who gave a fuck about the community... members like willbillhatchbac (i think), Celerity... and some others...

Oh well, times change.

I'd rather search for threads here over HT anyday. 20 times easier with 99% less shit to wade through.

there needs to be a post limit to sell in the classifieds (no whoring either).. that way n00bies can't just sign up and post a for sale ad.. they'd need to participate in discussions and topics before they could even attempt to post a classified, kinda like H-T and other sites that i know that have a min. post count before selling

time for some new mods..*raiseshand*
some dont even visit the site anymore

I'm new here and have never tried to sell anything. I did buy something tho (thanks recked). I first came here to learn, and stuck around cause there are some cool people here (even the assholes). I can understand your point, but please don't lump all us new people in the same catagory

Sites change, and especially forums, the users slowly grow and fade away. When I started on this site, I was 16 (before it was even hondaswap.com) and couldn't wait to mod my car, and I did (spending way too much when I look back). However, interests change. I slowly got bogged down with college, and dropping tons of money into a car didn't seem fun anymore. Priorities change, and time gets devoted to other areas.

Of course there is going to be a ton of new people. Alot of these users are super young (16 years old means born in 1991, aka the year that the USSR fell) but they're in that phase that I was in a half a decade ago. They will post a ton, learn just about everything there is to know about a honda, and become great members. Eventually their time will get devoted to something else, and they will fade away, just like I have, and many other older members (pills_PMD, DOHC accord, chet, ect) They will come back and kinda feel the same way you or I do, but that is how life works. If Mr Popular goes back to his HS 3 years after he graduates, he'll feel like an outsider. College clubs, teams, fraternities, ect cycle through members every few years, and their attitude, image, and values can be completely reversed in just a few years.

D-series has the post limit to even look in classifieds and it was fukin ghey. I just wanted to see if anyone had any reasonable cars for sale...I had to whore up the forums for a week and get my post count deleted twice...and those fucks are as crazy as the people who sell cars around here...but yeah...hs is way different than when I first came here.

I'm glad that fuck is gone though...

i know what you mean....

fact is, people come and go. half the mods don't come here any more.

i'm hoping to over-haul the site shortly. like i said in the other post, i got a couple new features in the works, and the site might even get a face-lift to get up to date. its been like this for a long time.... and its out of date.

mods.... i don't even know who to choose any more. seems like everyone who knows A LOT stuff doesn't have the time, or isn't motivated anymore (like me) and just hangs out in the lounge and stuff.

i'm open for all feedback. rant on. i want to hear it.

what other format would there be? i like it because it's simple also.

i stopped posting tech because nobody listens. they ask for advice, then don't take it. or they have far fetched dreams of running 10's for $500.

ya, blanco for mod for sure. but some of us have been around for... like... ever.

there are a lot of things i like about the site, i think there are more likes, than dislikes. but, i guess the raw technical aspect of hondaswap has died since most of the new members are worthless as far as tech.

like it was said earlier, they want to run 10's for $500. or they'll ask a question... and either never respond or they wont take the advice given... or even bother trouble shooting or searching for their problem... using the search feature.

it bothers me that people are so lazy. i guess i should get used to it though.

Don't make me a mod!!!

Half the shit, which isn't much, that I have learned about Hondas has already taken a backseat to work and this house. Hell my garage door is half fallen apart right now... I'm scared enough to just open it as it is.

I'm excited to get my exhaust on but I never feel like doing it. Ask BDN, he keeps harassing me about it.

I would be more helpful if I were a mod. j/k. that's always been up to you guys. But, I only hang in the lounge much because everyone hollers at me on IM to help them. Eh, I'd love to see how the new HS will be. I've been faithful here only. Every other Honda board I'm on, I haven't been to in a while. And for the record, I miss Ji.
