Yeah, they a SR-71 Blackbird at the Seattle Aerospace Museum. It is awesome if you see it in person. THey have tons of stuff their because of boeing. My Great uncle flew the SR-71 Black bird back in the day, and the stealth b2 bomber a few years ago. He was a test pilot for years.

Personally, my fav is the f117a stealth.

Yup, the SR-71 is a sweet plane. I'm sure that's the highest uh... "non-classified" speed that they'll publish.

The F-14 is also one of my faves. It's just a badass flying tank.

the 200 mph cars are tether cars.... not really RC (radio controlled) its just attatched to a wire and whipping around a circle... i guess thats why they dont count for the RC record

saw the video ... very impressive

That "wire" was it's fuel line. They consome so much fuel to even get close to 200mph. The amount of fuel they use to reach that would weigh that thing down tremendously and it would never get close to that kind of speed.

sr-71 is a badass plane. the f-14 is old, fat, and imo ugly... but still sweet, f117 is ok... but the f-22 raptor is the shit... and the x35b ownz that..
more x35b stuff <--video

while we are doing records... the x35 was the first plane to ever take off, brake the sound barrier and then make a vertical landing all in the same flight

edit-

if i remember correctly the fastest "plane" was actually the x-15. Mach 8 ... but it was done in the VERY outermost layer of the atmosphere.

Uh... this isn't a joke is it? Holy shit, that sounds like a Matrix in the works to me...

Either that or it sounds like the "Deep Thought" or whatever it was called from the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy.

heres the little blurb about it

Fastest Computer: Earth Simulator

This room may look like the set of a '70s sci-fi flick, but its contents are state of the art. Japan's Earth Simulator, a collection of 5,120 CPUs linked by 1,700 miles of cable, was turned on in 2002 and runs 35.8 trillion floating-point operations per second. That's five times faster than its nearest rival, IBM's ASCI Q, and the rest of the top five American supercomputers combined. Dubbed Computenik in honor of the thunder-stealing Sputnik, the $400 million number-cruncher collects data from around the globe to predict planetary changes like el Niņo, earthquakes, and global warming.

Very true- but the speed records are typically split up according to induction type though. The X-15 isn't an "air breather" so it's not in the same class as the SR-71. You can't compare the two.

Hell yes. I'd pay $100/year for a t-1 speed direct connection to that bitch! Now all we need is 4 million other people to do the same, and we could buy that thing in a year!
