It's hard to remember that we didn't have those things as recently as 1993.

EDIT: And they were spot on for everything but the voice recognition to unlock your door (sort of... you can do that if you really want to) and the pay videophones (again, sort of... Skype video/webcams?) Everything else is truly commonplace.

That's exactly what we have in Illinois, only with even less interaction; it's just an rfid device in the window tied to an account that gets debited when you pass under the toll sensor. How does Jersey do it?

shit we dont even have the tag anymore in dallas. its just a discount if you have one a direct debit tied with an ezpass. if not, they take a picture of your license plate and you pay online. if you dont pay after a certain amount then you have a warrant issued.

i haven't seen the medial charts on cards, payphones (video or not) are all but removed from every public place... i can't remember the last time i saw a payphone. Home Controllers from Home Automation Specialist Home Controls has some voice-activated stuff. so, most of it came true.

but then again, so did most of the stuff on start trek. it's just a matter of time before someones imagination becomes reality.

Well there is a rumor going around that the 3rd Gen iPhone is going to have video conferencing support. We're just going to bypass the phone booth and go straight to the cell phone. Also.....brought to you by AT&T

Because a lot of the highways are built using bonds that were sold prior to construction and need to be paid back, where as the taxes pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the roads, toll house/booths and rest stops.

Then most of the time toll sections of highways are sold to the states who use the tolls for income.
