Default Yet another new Home owner!

House was built in 2005 and was a foreclosure.. 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath. 1580 sq ft. the previous owners didn't take care of it at all, so when we bought it, we had to completely re-paint the entire house, replace the carpet and all of the downstairs vinyl. The house sold for 200k originally, and we got it for 178k.. i think we got a pretty good deal!

anyways, here's the pics!
it has a pretty good sized 2 car garage, with lots of storage space on either side if the garage door. from the end of the driveway looking in:

here's my "man cave".. but my wife made me put up her nopi chick flag garage needs to be finished. looks like the previous owner used left over paint from the living room to paint part of the garage.. they had built an extra room in the garage there too, and apparently it was painted blue.

here's part of the kitchen, stove is to the right, and fridge to the left. you can see our new tile too

better pic of the new tile, it's 20x20. we did the laundry rooms, kitchen, front entry way and dining room area

here's the dining room area with a hand-me-down table set tile looks darker in this pic then it really is.. table will eventually be moved further to the right to get it out of the way of the backyard sliding door.

here's the downstairs .5 bath. has a pretty nice pedistal sink. toilet is to the left of the door

this is the living room, as veiwed from the front door. Note: hand-me-down couch, tv, end tables and component tower :P

view looking down on the living room, from the upstairs hallway

this is the upstairs hallway. master is to the right, then the 2nd bedroom. hall closet, hall bathroom, then 3rd bedroom on the far left.

here's the view out of the 2nd bedroom. (nice roof i know ) it faces west and shows some pretty awsome sunset's behind the mountains.

here's looking into the master bathroom from where the bed is. i think i want to put an arch in that doorway.

master bath tub.. awsome sized, wife is happy

here's the water closet in the master bath, and the walk in closet to the right

last but not least.. the back yard. it's pretty good sized, 38ft deep + an 8ft patio that runs the length of the house, by 40ft wide. as you can see, it was never even touched, so i have a lot of work to do back there!

most of the houses we looked at were about 5 feet apart, and maybe 8-10 ft from the back of the house to the back wall

Very nice man! Congrats!

On a side note, I really have to start eating my Wheates so I can get a house too. Wow! I think you're the third person in the past two months that got a house? Wheates for the win. SWOOSH!

its a GREAT time to buy if you don't have something to sell.

do it this year, and you'll be a happy person.

Nice house. Looks like a decent neighborhood.

One trick I learned for growing grass in the desert:
Roto-till your whole backyard
Till in some of those "water crystals" (Improve Plant Health) Like that
Water your lawn very infrequently.

Just make sure you till down to about 2feet, and you use enough of the crystals. My neighbor, who showed me this, used about 200 lbs of them in a similar sized yard. His grass was incredible, even in the summer, and he never watered.\

EDIT: That is, if you enjoy grass. If you don't like mowing, don't bother. heh.

or.. leave for vacation for 2 weeks, have house//city get pounded with 2-3 monsoons and POP! all kinds of Bermuda grass

i do plan on landscaping a bit, but i need to recoup some funds from the down payment, flooring and paint i figure about a month and i'll have enough saved up again

welp, made a rookie home owner mistake a few days ago.. we have a "manual" drip system, where i have to turn the knob to turn it on and off.. well.. wife and i were out picking weeds today, and i noticed that the ground was a bit soggy.. i originally dismissed it because it had been raining pretty good as of late.. until i noticed water coming out of a drip head >.< i thought i was turning off the system, but apparently i turned it on, and it had been on for 3-4 days straight.. oops
