As for the woman it remains to be seen. If she was absent withough reason over 30 times then the school had grounds to fire her. I find her somewhat suspicious in that she is using this second job persecution stance as grounds to get her job back. Either she is rather wiley or she didn't think of it until some journalist (pains me to use that word) evolved it into a good headline.

My reaction in that post didn't have much to do with my experiences in Academia. It was a general stance I have of the un-answerable problems in our lives. I have NO ANSWER for the attractive teacher thing. I'm trying to form an opinion, because Celerity's opinionated nature abhors a vacuum, but I simply can't.

This ranks as unanswerable as abortion, racism and freedoms of speech, religion, and tolerance. It's all got so many good and bad sides, it's nuts.

If you wanna talk about academia and the liberal agendas, I'm game. But the fired teacher thing just plain sucks. It sucks that it happened, it sucks that because this woman teaches people below the age of 18 (A hair below that age) who have seen and touched more boobies than I have in the past 5 years should be ousted from her position, "be called a slut" (I know she isn't, but this stance can only serve to make her sad about her gender, and status as a human) and to beat her down because of an endowed figure - it's not right. Not right at all.

But just because I think something isn't right, doesn't make it go away. The truth is that she IS going to serve as a problem for the school board. And I feel utterly terrible that I can't do anything about it, or the other double-standards in society - and the multitudes of double standards in the lives of women. It just sucks.
