    Floating Valves

Yea, the DX head is also 16 valve. I disected both the 16 valve and 8 valve heads and learned alot. :) In both heads the valves are exactly the same (height/ width, etc.) The valves also open the exact same distance on both heads. The 8 valve cam just seems to have a longer duration...

    Floating Valves

This is an enduro (race car) for circle track. I am putting the 8 valve head on because this year they changed the rules and don't allow 16 valve engines, because we were to dominant last year. The head I have is off of an HF. The HF does red line at 5000 rpms, however on a HF car I drove...

    Floating Valves

HISTORY: Have a 89 CRX enduro car, recently put the 8 valve head on the 16 valve block. I used my 16 valve intake and injectors. PROBLEM, if you read 8 valve on 16 valve engine thread you know the whole story. Rev's to about 4900 rpms and then the engine bogs down, like it is under a load...

Is there a 12 or 8 valve head that will fit a D16?

That was my initial thought, until i drove an 8 valve HF around yesterday and found that it had more top end, you could take it to over 6000 easily. I think the problem is from the accident last year because the 16 valve did have a similar problem. After the crash it ran to about...

Is there a 12 or 8 valve head that will fit a D16?

Thanks for the tip, Tried the IAT sensor, didn't change anything. That was unhooked all last season and it ran fine. Also I swapped out the injector resistor and that didn't change anything. Still bogs down at 5000 rpms like the engine is under a load. Looking at swapping out a fuel pump...

Is there a 12 or 8 valve head that will fit a D16?

Swapped the dizzy out, still only goes to 5000 rpms and then the engine BOGS DOWN, like its not getting enough fuel or spark??? Car seems to run fine otherwise and I do not think this problem is related to the 8 valve swap, I think it might be from the accident, the car had the same problem but...

Is there a 12 or 8 valve head that will fit a D16?

PUT THE 8 VALVE head on the 16 VALVE block. Runs great, but got one PROBLEM............ It seems to bog down at 5,000 RPM's, kinda like its a RED line, which it actually is on an 8 valve engine. Is there a way to get more than 5,000 rpms out of this head??? ANY IDEAS??? I am going...

Is there a 12 or 8 valve head that will fit a D16?

Thanks guys, I bought a whole HF engine for $150 today :D so I am going to try to put it on my D16 block cause I want to get as many horses as I can obviously. I plan on having it ported and polished and milled. I will probably use all of my SI intake and exhaust and all of the sensors...

Is there a 12 or 8 valve head that will fit a D16?

Hey guys. I have a 1990 CRX that I use as an enduro car. I used it all last season and it dominated so this year they changed the rules. NO 16 valve engines are allowed so im screwed. I have alot of $$ invested in the roll cage, etc. The car was a DPI converted to a MPI. PUT THE 8...

    DX tranny on SI motor

Just found out tranny has to be shot. I manually tried to shift, under the car, into reverse and it won't slide in like any of the other 5 trannies I have laying around. So now I really need to know more about the gears one the DX and SI tranny. ARE THEY THE SAME 1st through 3rd?? One...

    auto to manual

You will need to move the rear tranny mount on the cross member on the car to a differerent hole on the cross member. At least that was how it was on my auto to stick. Be sure to get all the 5 speed tranny mounts from a civic or crx. it is a very easy swap!

    DX tranny on SI motor

Why would I have better acceleration with the SI tranny over the DX tranny if they are geared the same in first, through third? Here's another thing, the reason I am taking out my SI tranny, which I should have mentioned in the beginning, is that last week I was pushed into the wall in a race...

    DX tranny on SI motor

OK, I read that the overall ratios are different, 3.88 to 4.25 for the SI. But I only use the car for circle track racing and I am only using 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. I notice that there is a difference in the third gear ratio, 1.864 for the DX and 1.894 for the SI. What is this going to do to...

    intake manifold

All you are doing is gaining a little bit more room in the intake chambers. You are going to have to pull off all of your sensors from the z6 and put it on the y8. I pulled a Y8 out of my buddies civic to drop a b16a2 in, so I have his engine in my garage. I compared it to my z6 and...

    DX to SI conversion complete......

Anyone try putting a 1.6 head on a 1.5 block??? That is an option. I will lose a 100cc but I am wondering if I will even notice. Just wondering if anyone tried it, or had problems with it, or found it to be great!!
