Crome whether it be the free or Pro version is a great program. The only thing Pro has is the datalogging and dyno tools.
Datalogging you can get with a program like Freelog which they are making a lot of strides with more and more every day. Crome free does have the real time updating...

I am going to doubt that if you are getting random misfires that fixing the 2 O2 sensor codes are going to fix the misfire...but that is a good start to fixing the codes.
With OBD0 stuff, it always seemed a little more finnicky than OBD1. I am not sure if that is because of the processors in the ECUs or something in the program or ECU code...I am not a code guy.

Doubtful...most Ebay vendors use what are called 'Dual Wipe' sockets. The Ostrich plugs in best to a machined DIP socket or screw down type ZIF sockets (i happen to sell these) if you need to remove it from time to time.
The Ostrich will be used for tuning...and if you have an Ostrich, a burner really isnt required since the battery inside of it is designed to last for about 15-30 years...
