Picking it up tomorrow assuming the guy gets the inspection straight on it, has less than 6000 miles on it. Insurance will run me around $40 a month which is not too bad, but I need to get my full license still.

Is it wrong that I am already thinking about repainting that orange blue?

Stay orange. Good score ! Go full cafe racer, dual headlights, and cover up that rear seat with a tailbag or something.

Haha. that's insane. I'm looking at a gs500E right now too.
I'll probably call the guy on monday, and see when I can pick it up. Of course, I've still got to get that whole license thing sorted out first........

well here in Pennsylvania its required to get 16 out of 20 questions right to get the permit..
Restricts me to No Riding after dark No Passengers Must Wear a Helmet The last 2 I was planning on anyway Then for the full license either a safety course that takes 2 evenings or afternoons if i can get one, or a skills test. Regardless I'm taking the safety course even after i pass the skills test.

no helmet law out there ? nice. You fight for that right, even if you use a helmet. After helmets, it'll be jacket, and gloves, and finally they will ticket you for not wearing approved footwear. It always gets worse.

I like the fact that a helmet isn't required by law, kinda like a seat belt. However I will always be using both, I think it should be a personal choice. Hell I'll be wearing full gear at all times anyway.
Seat belts are required by law here though.

I said the same thing
Everyone develops their personal favorites, and I find that I wear a helmet for wind protection and noise altering. I look at a helmet and while it may work great at a lower speed, I have no clue how it would help at higher speeds (60 or more). Vigilance, bike control and good decision making is the key to staying alive.

Different conditions. Observe: Racing helmets are not the best for the streets. Street helmets are not the best for the track. Pretty much same for the gear (I have track approved gloves, but the road use has worn them threadbare in about 10,000 miles)
Crashes at the track are a totally different animal than on the street. The pavement is smooth, there is lots of grass on hand and tire / soft walls. real road conditions are FAR more abusive.

So far got about 100 miles on it, rides really nice on the freeway. Theres a good bit of wind since its a naked bike though, the guy gave me a front fairing that has a gash on it, and I'm just considering putting it on and repairing/painting it later.

hoooo shit yeah, that's gashed.
I used a plastic repair kit from autozone or whatever. It's a two tube epoxy, the flex agent is VERY good. That color shouldn't be hard to duplicate. Score though, looks great !

Well it looks like its made out of fiberglass. I rode it around today like this and it cuts down a lot of the wind on my chest. Should i actually go for the epoxy or just do fiberglass?

So it has no flex at all ? It'll snap if it's bent ?
If so then the Bondo brand of fiberglass repair epoxy will be fine.
