As you know, I recently purchased an 06 GSX-R 600. I love it, and have had only a couple problems, neither of which really affects much. Unfortunately, the bike is red and black. If it weren't for the deal I got, I wouldn't have bought the red and black one. So, this winter, while it's off the road, it's getting retuned, new tires, and new paint. I decided that I want paint from one of the 08 color schemes, only problem, is I like all but the blue. So I need a few opinions. Here's some pictures, in the order of what I like the most to least, and what model it's from.
![]() ![]() I don't know which I like better, they are pretty much the same, only the vinyl's on the side that say "GSXR" and have those lines are blue. I took mine off anyway, and planned on getting vinyls that's just the letters, with no lines behind it. I also haven't seen a 1000 in person, but the white of the 600 has a sort of pearl flake in it, which would probably get more expensive than I'd like to go, so I'll probably just go white and silver. ![]() I have always loved that sort of burnt orange color. Again, the GSX-R is gone from the side. This is nice because my black paint is still fresh, and wouldn't need painted, unlike the whites above. ![]() ![]() I obviously like the black ones, 600, 750, and 1000 alike, since they're the same. It would be very easy to have everything painted black. I just don't know if it's too much black, you know? It's not necessarily my least favorite either, and it's probably the cheapest. If I did go with the black though, I may have my rims powder coated a gold color, like the color of eg6sir's tutorial on painting a valve cover. ![]() I don't like the yellow 600 a single bit. I don't care for any of the blues, a single bit. So that's where I am. If I go white, I may also just go completely white, with no silver, the rims would stay black, with the intention that I would get the black GSXR vinyl for the side. I'll probably leave the side bare untill I sell it, but you know. |

Actually, if I could afford it, I really like the clear and smoked replacement panels.

That is fucking BAD ASS because I would suspend shit under the plastic.. like a child's screaming face and it's hair wrapped around the transmission pulley. Or a cat that appears to be singed and encrusted on the exhaust.
Awesome. As far as paint, I learned about plastic paint. It's really really easy.

The whole thing, or like the second picture?
And unfortunately Cel, I would probably have either of them, but they're like $1500 that I'm not that interested in spending right now lol. And OT, but how big is your bike's actual size compared to a zx14? |

![]() Like this. But with Atomic Orange Pearl. Beautiful color. And it's not too expensive. I happened to pay about $50 a pint. Needed 2 of them to complete a GPZ600. So about $100 for all the paint.

I'll find out for you. The guy that's painting the panels said he was gunna clear it as part of the cost.
The only other thing I had to do was buy some reducer. I think it was about $20 for a bottle big enough to do both cans of paint...

That's not bad. I'll check with the guy doing mine on the subject of clear, and if he planned on including that in the cost, or if that's under the "I buy paint" category. So if you find out, let me know. When is yours getting done?

It's done. I just have to pay the guy and pick it up. Once I get it, I'll post some pics.

Definitely. I'd love to see the color in action. Again, mine isn't getting painted untill winter so I have plenty of time to decide for sure.

Celerity/Steve's buddy has a Honda VTX that is some kind of orange. Beautiful color.
I have also seen a couple shades of blue that were really nice. Can't remember what they came off of, but if I see it again, I will find out. If you aren't doing this til winter, then I'm sure you will be doing your research into different colors or ideas, as well as pricing out different paints and things. Any info I come across I will gladly pass along.

I'll gladly take any info. Currently, a friend of a friend paints very well, and he'll do the job for $450 and I buy paint. I need to check on another guy who is more of my friend, and see what he can do for me. I've seen both of their work, and they're both very talented so as of now it's pretty much who will do it for cheaper, and who has the ability to do it in the winter, because I'm sure the cold makes a huge difference on the paint.

Im a painter and that becomes a big issue in the wintertime. Even with low temp reducers you still need at least 65-70 degrees to paint. I personally dont like to paint in a shop that is anything less then 70 degrees. Metallic colors like to mottle and clear likes to run when its cold. As for colors if your friend does paint work he should have color chip books like I do. If you were local I let you flip through my dupont color books. Good luck with your project. ![]()

I'm digging the black/black. But I'm biased. Instead of the atomic orange pearl, what about a black/bronze with bronze wheels? That'd be pretty hot. Same paint pattern.
I saw a paint job on a bike that was interesting.. White nose to tail with very light grey to almost black airbrushing, whole bike was made to look like it was carved out of marble. Had a skeleton breaking through the marble on the lower fairings, but I'd have just left it all marble looking. Was nice. Actually... Just CF the whole damn thing and be a god.

I'd love to CF the whole thing, but it's equally as expensive as the clear fairing kits. I've found it as a kit, but I can't at the moment

I also dig the black on black, but the orange/black is runner up for me. Although I think almost every vehicle/bike looks great in black, dark paint heats up quick here in south FL. My honda is black and you can cook a steak if you leave it in the front seat during the day. A bike is different though, so I'd still get black on black.
