Default Wil's 'whoops' pictures from this weekend

During the second practice session of the day on Sunday, I was tagging along right behind a few friends of mine who've been racing for a couplea years - which was really stupid considering I'd never been on this particular track before and I didn't know the track at all - and came in way too hot into a really sharp right-hander. I went wide, started to correct it, and glanced at the wall and target fixated and ran off. I was heading straight for the wall, and had the choice of either slamming into the wall at full speed or grabbing my brakes and dumping the bike, so I grabbed the brakes. The front wheel tucked and threw me off the bike, and I tumbled several times and smacked my head pretty good. I banged up my neck and my shoulder, and got a concussion. The bike isn't TOO bad, it bent the right clipon, broke the right rearset, dinged the frame, and trashed the plastics. The bike's also running like shit now, I haven't had a chance to figure out why. Poor 636

It sucks the most, because I spent Friday and Saturday night repairing the fairings and repainting them - so they hadn't even been on there for 3 days before I trashed them

Here's a few pictures from the last trackday, with the old paintjob:

That damage that you see, is not only on the plastic bits (a multi-hundred dollar mess of parts) but on the Engine. Imagine dumping your Movado on the ground, and then finding out it also doesn't keep time anymore.

glad to hear your ok, get back on that horse!

I was once given wise advise about tracking bikes by a friend who races.

From his dad when he wanted to start with his street bike -
"if you cant stand at the top of the driveway and kick that bike down to the bottom, your not ready to take it to the track" lol i thought it was funny

edit : Nice form!

Looks like the frame sliders did a pretty good job, over all the bike came out well.

I'm sure you'll have it back together soon enough and right back out there.

oh, well it depends, if you are a praying man your mind will probably go there.

im not, my mind went straight to " OH FUCK!!!!" lock up and drop it.
unfortunatly, it still hurts. dont remember much else of it. head to the side of a truck at 40-45mph usually takes you out. lol.

when i went down, i have no memory of 3 days before and 2 weeks after
from what i was told i went into shock pretty much immediately
was trying to get up and trying to take my helmet off... doctor driving by stabilized me until the paramedics and Lifestar (medevac helicopter) showed up... probly a good thing i wasnt able to get up or take the helmet off seeing that both bones in my lower right leg were sticking out of my leg and C1 and C2 in my neck were broken

i can tell you that the first time i remember waking up in the hospital with wires, tubes, braces and external fixators all over the place... there was a very surreal "what the FUCK happened to me" moment... was definitely a bit scared... and bothered that i could not for the life of me remember what the hell happened or how i ended up in a hospital in the condition i was in... that got a lot worse when i found out what day it was and realized how much time had gone by that i had no recollection of

i know that doesnt help much as far as the sensation of crashing and such... but that was my experience with crashing
