well here's the reason for asking- I *might* have a shot at a recovered theft nsx. Its pretty much stripped- some body parts are missing, a lot of the interior is gone, rims, and of course the driveline.
So this got me thinking instead of trying to track down an nsx swap which will take god knows how long to find a decent setup and which will cost god knows how much and end up being only a stock nsx when done, is there any other cheaper and more readily available C or J motor from a Legend/Accord/Odyssey/whatever else that will more or less interchange? I figure if a boosted accord or odyssey swap will more or less drop in, it could be easily setup to put down well over stock nsx power, and probably cheaper at that. anyone happen to have any info on this? __________________

i do think that a ledgned v6 will fit because i once heard of some one doing a nsx swap in to there ledgned but any thing is posibly with wrenches, welder, and a soldering iron.

first off nobody does swaps into an NSX.
second a supercharged NSX built right can produce over 500hp in a car that is nimble enough stock to beat supercars on a track. So in my opinion if you can get this car, GET IT, however can you afford it?? If not, a person such as myself would love to get my hands on one to build the motor for it. i swear people need to read things more carefully... read this entire thread again please 'swift'.
i was thinking today about the v6's honda has built... to me these motors (i.e. that generation v6) should be interchangeable but the transmission is probably the 'sticky' part. i was given the impression that the nsx has been stroked to 3.2 from 3.0 and tuned, as we all probably know. therefore it seems feasible to do this swap and also gives you the oportunity to do head and bottom end work to your new engine to outperform the stock. the question i ask for the rest... what is the transmission solution? will all of the v6 transmissions fit? ecu... half shafts... what not. i'm sure someone knows and is intersted. ![]() |

the impression that i've gotten with anyone that i've spoken with about this is that the nsx is completely its own- bellhousing pattern is different, heads won't swap to any other C or J engine regardless of gen, etc etc I'm basically looking to eliminate the nsx driveline altogether, mainly for availability and financial reasons as mentioned previouly. I'm mostly concerned with differences in mount and axle placement and positioning, physical dimensions (will xxx swap fit in engine bay/clear hatch/correct axle angles/etc) don't get me wrong- I am definitely not bashing the stock nsx gear. I would love to come across a mint, unmolested, completely intact nsx for a ridiculously low price. As swift posed the question if i have the finances available to make some crazy shit happen like a supercharged nsx, yes i do. However I have no desire whatsoever to tie up upwards of $50 in a car, a summer-only car at that, when my finances could be much better invested elsewhere, which they currently are. As I mentioned in the original post, the car I have a chance to pick up is being offered at such a retarded price, it would almost be stupid to not jump on it. But if it's going to cost me $30k to put it back together, then I'm going to have to pass. Well, first of all, the NSX has DOHC. Also, I believe it's a 90 degree V6. Based on these two facts alone, it's pretty safe to say that the NSX V6 is larger externally than a J series V6. Assuming that you're able to fab up your own mounts, a J series V6 *should* fit. Now, I haven't personally taken any measurements, so don't quote me on this, but I don't see any reason why a J series V6 wouldn't fit in an NSX engine bay. As far as axles go, I have no clue, but most likely you would have to get some hybrid axles made.
All in all, I would think that you could come out cheaper with an Accord V6 with custom mounts and custom axles, than if you sourced an actual NSX engine. If you really wanted to go out there with it, maybe even a K24/20 hybrid and a fat turbocharger..... that's just my imagination running wild though. __________________

I have disassembled and overlooked a lot of NSX powertrains in my honda days and the drivetrain is different from any other honda motor. The transmission is uncommon to hondas as we know them. So to swap another type of v6 into it, would be useless because you would have to completely change the position of the motor for the axles to even remotely fit right. Try and locate a NSX powertrain because there is nothing like a NSX. A stock one you will love it!

I know more than anyone here about honda V6s probably except for the member above that had taken a few apart.
Then NSX block only shares similiarites to the C27a in the first legend. Thats it. There is no reason to spend more money on a swap that probably wont go smooth. I think you have no cash, cant afford even a used block and now your just trying to swap in a motor to sell the car. Any NSX owner wont touch a car if the VIN or the mileage doesnt add up. __________________

If you knew anything about me i have gone way outside of the box in terms of swaps etc.
Also if you knew anything about the NSX, its an aluminum body with a subframe in the rear. If you knew how the engine/trans was setup for the RWD you would see you almost have very few if any options in terms of swaps. You were asking for input and opinions on a subject you were to lazy or have no experience in looking into is all. People have swapped LS motors into 350Z etc however the platform in a whole is similiar. The engine itself is worth over $10k alone and can be built correctly and cheap if you retain the stock rods etc and keep HP around 400whp. __________________
