Rep Power: 392 | Wait for it... OH MY GOD MIKE STARTED A TECH THREAD! It's been a while... So I've been taking a lot of road trips in the "new" family xB recently. I've got slightly larger tires than stock- 205/50-16 now over OE 185/60-15- so my speedometer is pretty much dead on with the GPS unit at all speeds, but the odometer is WAY off. I first noticed this when I took a road trip driving separately from the wife. The S2000 logged something like 253 miles covering the EXACT same route that the xB did (234 miles). We were never more than a few hundred yards apart from each other the whole way- same lane, same lane changes- basically followed the exact same route. I know the S reads mileage correctly when using the right size tires, so I started investigation: ![]() The xB is showing a consistent difference between actual miles (shown on GPS) and the odometer. The GPS always reads 5.6% higher. This was counted over quite a few tanks of gas. On the plus side, my warranties will last longer- on the negative side, the car has more miles on it than the odometer shows. I just broke 60k, so that means I really have around 63k on the car (it had stock tires on it before I bought it). Oh well. Given that my tires are 1.4% taller than stock (23.74in vs 24.07in), that means that xB owners running stock tires are actually traveling 4% farther than their odometers indicate. Just thought I'd share. So have any 1st gen xB owners experienced this? I know I'm not the only one on here with one. Math: car trip odometer = 251.6 mi gps trip odometer = 265.6 mi % difference over car trip odo = (265.6-251.6)/251.6 = 5.56% stock tire diameter = 185*1.2/25.4+15 = 23.74in current tire diameter = 205/25.4+16 = 24.07in % difference over stock tire diameter = 1.39% % true miles over in-car trip odo reported miles (OE tires) = 1.056*.986 = 1.041 = 4%

I haven't done the test exactly with the S2k, but given that I drove behind Katie the whole way, and that the mileage difference between the S's odometer matches up exactly with the difference in tire diameter between what I have on and what is equipped from the factory (about 3% smaller than OEM right now with tread worn down), I think it's pretty much right on the money. I almost never drive with the GPS- Katie keeps it for herself. Yeah it's pretty high. The guys on the xB forum have been writing me back and telling me the same thing though- they're seeing over a 5% difference between car-measured distance and true distance. Crazy.

Rep Power: 232 | Lol, everyone knows that the s2k doesn't have enough torque to spin tires on the highway. Cal: The Fit had a class-action lawsuit for the opposite of this, Honda awarded an extra 300 miles on the warranty. Don't expect much. That sucks though. Htf does it throw the odometer off, but make the speedo accurate? I always thought they were connected... |

They are connected- but they are rarely calibrated to the same spec together. | |

| !!YTINASNI | Tried some real speeding in my element.. It was scary as hell. Those things are not designed to do much over the speed limit. Straights were as expected.. corners were terrifying. |
