Nothing much better than a bullit series or even a GT mustang.
If I was going to buy one, it'd be a SVT cobra. But that's me personally.

yeah, that price is high.
But for mustangs, the current gen is the best made. For power, the 4.6 DOHC is neat as hell, and quite potent. The best tuner Mustang is the ASC/McLaren. Aren't Celerity opinions great when they simply uploaded ?

I dont really care for the new ones, the last gen is the best looking imho, especially with some saleen wheels. hmmm a Cobra would be awesome, but insurance on any mustang will probably be considerably more than id want to pay. im thinking... 22/23 single male, renting an apt, clean record, loan with payments on car, full coverage, in the area of.... 300 bucks a month?? I know when my friend had a GT4 (before he sold it to Ji) and paid about 350 being on his mothers policy at age 17.. but then again thats age 17.
I just wouldnt mind having something that was quick out of the box, or something that could easily be made quicker.. like a chipped '00 s4... But a Mach1 is out of the question, id rather get a cobra. ![]()

40 hp, better suspension, DOHC 4.6 and a tighter geared transmission isn't any better? The Mach 1 is oodles better than any 99-04 GT.

Mach 1's are overpriced garbage. The only remotely cool thing(s) about them is the shaker hood (which doesn't really shake that much at all, and isn't all that functional) and the wheels...the wheels are actually pretty badass. If I ever bought a mustang, it'd be a SVT Cobra. |

Hit the gas; it shakes. Shift; it shakes. A 30k 13.3 second 1/4 mile car is overpriced garbage? I don't recall the 350z pulling 13.3s, or the S2000 pulling 13.3s... I've seen so many Mach 1s pulling 12s, bone stock. Over priced garbage my ass. With that post Will, you made yourself sound like an ignorant Mustang owner rambling on about Hondas.

You can buy the Cobra, which performs better, for a few thousand more. If I'm already $34,000 into a new car, I don't mind spending the extra $4,000 for the $38,000 SVT Cobra. The Mach 1 was a good car, but it was more of a collector's car. High pricetag for an elite version. You're talking to all econo guys who see the car and say, "Wow for that kind of money I can buy a Mustang GT and make it far faster and outperform a Mach 1 GT for a smaller pricetag." That's the mindset you're dealing with here. No one is right or wrong, I'm just trying to shed some light on what he was saying and why he was saying it.

Mach 1s if taken care of will increase in value unlike Cobras. Less were made and have an iconic name plate to them.
Of course you could get a Cobra for a few K more and have a faster car, who'd of thunk it, a FI car and all. I'd like to see you try to find a stock 03-04 Cobra though. Those cars have been beat on constantly... where as Mach 1s aren't all beat to hell and back as much.

-The Cobra has bang for its buck, whether its FI or NA. It doesn't matter. The value is still there. -Thats a relative statement. Any car can or cannot be beaten on. There's less Mach 1's so there's going to be less showing up used, so the numbers game doesn't really work. If you want a performance car, buy a GT and mod it or do the smart thing and buy a Cobra and mod it. If you want a status symbol and a piece of history, pay the premium for the Mach 1. We all know these basics, I don't know what we keep rehashing them - I was just trying to help you understand other people's viewpoint on the subject.

I understand his viewpoint, I just don't agree with him. He said it was overpriced garbage. I happen to not agree with it.

and with all the EPA bullshit regulations on intakes, the shaker hood doesn't really yield any power gains over a conventional-style intake...have you ever seen one in person? There's like 80lbs of plastic (not literally, but you get the idea). That, and today's modulars run a LOT smoother than those from 30 or so years ago, so you don't get the full 'shaker' effect...granted, the newer ones twitch a bit when you goose on the throttle, but nowhere near the effect of the old ones. Am I saying that the Mach 1's aren't fast cars? No, absolutely not. They're fast as fuck. But the ONLY things they've got on the SVT is the hood and the wheels...well, and the gauge cluster. The wheels are badass, as I stated above...but other than the wheels or the 'retro' vibe the car gives off, there's no good reason not to drop a few cents more and get the better-performing SVT. I remember watching a fricking Speed Channel segment, on why they were overpriced and not much better. It got literally smoked on the slalom and road course by the fricking RX-8. They're slow. I was in the car the car when my brother beat one in his fucking RSX-S. But maybe the driver was horrible. Dare I say. You're full of shit saying they run 12's stock, yet alone 13.3 by a professional driver.. SVT cobras run 12's stock with nice tires. I was there to witness that though at PIR. A SVT cobra and mach1 is night and day. What did you read that on a forum somewhere? Or did you go to the track, and literally witness it. I respect muscle cars. I love them. I'd own an SVT before my scion anyday, but my scion is 300 a month for insurance, an SVT would be near 500.

Mustang Forums - Enthusiast Forum for the Ford Mustang , go ask any mach 1 owners what they're running. the best i saw on the forum was 13.3. The best I saw on videos at the track, high 12s. I don't need to actually go to the track to know what I'm talking about.

s2000 isn't a drag car. Put them on a real race at a real track. All I know is that the mustang runs a liveaxle, and that sucks for handling. Drag's for fags The interior is cheap as well, and reliability? from Ford?

Interiors are cheap on every car anymore. and i don't see too many people participating in illegal autocrossing like I do drag racing.
