| The 250 will recieve nothing. MAYBE, if I can find it used / cheap, a Muzzy exhaust. And I'm going to get some bags. I like the bike the way it is. Consider it like an HF CRX. I could do more to squeeze power out of it, or I could enjoy it is as it is and focus on another car thats actually capable of power. That's where I am with Hondas lately. I'm looking at motors thinking how I can get more economy out of them. I could get power, but until you spend time with something that actually HAS power, you're under this delusion that you can take on Vipers with some bolt ons. The Cosworth is like that. It's already great from the factory. I can make it into it's original config now that it doesn't have to pass emissions (ever) . But even then I'm going to end up selling it and getting a 911 or Esprit.

| ROFL... Just looked up specs on the bike... 35hp/18lb/ft of torque!! WOOHOO!!! 304lb dry weight + 200lbs of Fuel, Oil, Coolant, & Rider = 504 lbs, which = 14.1 1/4 mile... Not Fast.. And get the Vega Back together... I'll do a challenge against You.. $500. Winner Take All.. AutoX & Drag Race. |

| I'll consider, Mr Bitter. And 14 second 1/4 miles do constitute a "Fast" car. |

| As far as the Vega is concerned, and this is directed towards everyone, it's very ignorant to make fun of, or otherwise put down, something that you don't understand. |

| I understand it...they fucked it up when they built them though..the concept was different It was supposed to be a 185hp 12:1 ported/polished motor w/the Muncie 4 speed...what rolled out of the factory was a 120hp 8.5:1 run of the mill 2.0 liter..it had the Muncie but w/3.73 gears out back and a 3.11 1st gear its useless from a dig. It ran a 1/4 mile of 18.5...a 1g CRX does it in under 17 It probably handles well, but that only gets you so far..you've still got to get back up to speed coming out of the corners pull the motor, jamb a V8 and a 12 bolt in it and then I can see it going somewhere

| What he said... And 14 seconds is NOT fast.. Its "not sluggish"... 13 seconds is "quick", which is what my car will do... 12 seconds it "Pretty damn good"... 11 seconds is FAST. |

| Just so everyone knows.... he officially has the slowest garage ever.... the only reason I say that is the Ninja 250. Those things will seriously out handle quite a few things, but power they do not have. I think it the max torque output of that motor to the ground is 14ft lbs and horsepower comes in somewhere around 27 or so. But hey.... 70mpg and its only has 2 wheels..... lets do this! |

| Haters, all of you. The Cosworth you're talking about is the first few that rolled off. I have a Borg Warner 5 speed, reverse H close ratio 4:10 Positraction rear. The block is from the Vega, but even the sleeves are different. It's Aluminum block, aluminum head but high nickel sleeves and lighter / different dished pistons, con rods and balanced crank. The water pump is 9 vane instead of 7. The mains are 2 bolt. The head is a DOHC 2 piece carrier with on-point valves and sandwiched springs (Keeps off the cam itself). The ignition is HEI. The intake is dual throttle body (30mm) with 4 injectors controlled by an AM Crystal oscillator with no dwell. I mean dude, this is 1976. Granted, this motor would be a 400 hp monster with today's tech, but it's no slouch.

| And the Ninja, I just love that thing. It's more smiles-per-dollar than anything I've ever owned. Come on man, $3000 - What do you expect ? IT's a scooter with a different seating position. There is no such thing as an un-cool bike ! Next bike, maybe next year, will be a BMW K1200S though. |

| Did you ever post weight/horsepower/ET's/Lateral G's of the vega? |

| No, because I lack the track and testing equipment to do so. I gave an ass-dyno estimate and then some realistic output hopes. The car is actually very light, has coil springs at all 4 corners, Unequal length a-arms, but they are reasonable as well. This car get bashed by everyone, but it's such a remarkable car that like I've said before: It's faster than the 911. In a corner, the lateral forces tend to move it outwards, unlike the 911, but it's faster after the apex and in the straights. The throttle response is awesome. The engine keeps going to 7000 rpm without breaking a sweat. The hate must end.

| Proof: Yeah, I'll do the Dyno when I'm ready. Late 70s and 80s had lied hp figures to get around Carter-esque insurance regs and import tariffs. You know this. |

| Not cool ? Check this thing out: ![]() Granted, BMW rarely uses full plastics, but this appears to be an exception. It's a great bike for daily riding (Which I now do) and the comforts like heated grips and seats, auto suspension and power ports are important to me in that situation. I agree, most BMWs are ugly as sin, but this one really strikes me. |

| First.... lose the attitude that "it will be a ****** **** *** car if....". It's an antique, you know the value of, and if you built it back to OEM, you'll get good money from the right person for it. Second... if you keep the car and build it....then lose the attitude that "it will be an ****** **** ******* *** car when I.....". IT's not going to happen, your a home owner now....a car is not worth it to go soo deep into debt, waste time, and if something happens, then your going to be living from paycheck to paycheck....just like me. Sure you can score cool deals, have friends fab things, but the bottom line is...it's going to get beat up one way or another...some granny might not have taken her Geritol some morning and she not fully awake to see your baby in front of her...or you'll join the club of fires, flips, wear and tear, or the anti-Christ.....rust...like the rest of us dreamers and builders. Third.... Projects like this will never happen. Since your a homeowner, making decent wages, wife works, win the lottery.....have all the money in the world.... your still going to find that tuning a " 4 injectors controlled by an AM Crystal oscillator" thats over 30 years old is going to be too much of a pain in your ass than it is worth. Just get a haltec, new RC injectors, load the engine up with sensors, and tune it by a laptop and allow the engine to actually breath and work for you...not you working for the engine. $1000-1500 for a new system that is tunable and parts that are available by second day air-mail...... is better than you turning into an old mole saying "when the parts come in....or when I find them....then I'll take it to the track and show you." Trust me...wires and tube's made in the 70's age and deteriorate even though they are sealed in a vacuum tube...the metal processing in those days were focused for quantity, not quality. Fourth.....bring back my damn engine lift....ASAP. I'll be damned if your going to hang onto that lift until you built the motor 3 years from now and want to install it into the car... I even forgot when I loaned it to you, I needed it a 2 months or so ago....and now I really need it...because I would have liked to have gotten to an autocross event sometime this year... Why the hell did I waste $25 for the CART membership? Fifth.... Slap an SR20DET, RB25DETT, or a 3 rotor in it. If your going to change the car a tad "retro-ing it".... might as well go for the bang-per-buck Ebay engines. Or invest and just go all out and slide an LS7 in it.

| Someone poured themselves a nice bowl of Opinion-Ohs this morning ! Yeah, I'll do my best to get your lift back. I have no truck anymore (Lost to an axle destruction) that I didn't intend. I am TRYING to get the lift back to you, and if my trying does suit your needs, you DO have a station wagon that we can put it in. Do not attempt to blame your lack of an autocrosser on me. I'm doing the best I can with what I have. And I do thank you for letting me use it - it saved my life with the Vega. I'll be sure to pick up my own as soon as I can. Also, your projects aren't stalled because god made you buy a house. And nor are mine.

| the lift won't fit in the subaru with me driving....and the wife would kill me if that dirty thang got into her car. Let me just "Fred Flintstone" the CRX around an autocross course...it will be a blast. Car cant run without an engine...and hey, I have an engine sitting on a stand that I have to crank over everyweek to keep lubed up so the humidity does'nt wash the oil from the cylinders...it sure would be nice if 4 grown men would pick that engine up and lower it into the shell so I can slide the mountbolts to it, and press on with the install...but all the strong guys have different lives and hours than me...so I'm left to do it by myself, and I'm not in the mood to get carted off to the hospital over a hernia. You sure can find time to go buy a new car, buy a new bike, go autocrossing with Chris, but you have no time to swing by an engine lift that is needed 23 miles away....it's like $15 for a uhaul van dude.... I'm just busting your ass steve ....since I'm bored... :Pyou know I wub you

| There is your old block, no head, with a corroded valve cover, a trany still bolted to it, the header, the shift linkages, and the flimsy aluminum crankshaft pully. and I have the block and head that I ripped out from the civic.... A little mositer made it to the cylinder walls of your old engine, so it's rusting now....RIP....rust in peace....hehe |
