What do you guys know, should I buy them for the S14? are they comparable to Brembo?

yeah they make a "look fast" brake rotor
theyre slotted and "dimpled"
the dimples give the high performance look of cross drilled without significantly lowering the weight of the rotor but they just as effectively reduce the friction surface (yay)
they also just as effectively create stress points for stress fractures to occur

so you get a rotor that is not significantly lighter, that has significantly less friction surface, and is prone to cracking

sounds great to me

if you are looking for pretty brakes for your show car that never sees aggressive driving, by all means get them.... if you drive hard and want brakes that are up to that challenge, get some brembo blanks and hawk pads

so I know the argument agianst drilled rotors but why not use slotted, Brembo claims (yeah I know) that they grip better and wear more even then the blanks do

x3. Although i need new pads, rotors are great! When i first put hawk hp pads with the blanks, the braking was greatly improved.

they grip better with shitty pads that tend to glaze
as for even wear i havent had any problems with blanks... only times ive seen uneven wear there was larger issues (bad caliper, improper installation, etc)
they also, by design, eat pads very quickly

and the rules still apply... grooving still removes surface area... less friction surface still means less braking power... the "benefit" is that the surface of the pad is always being shaved clear of any glaze or other shit that could cause the brake pad to lose friction.... so on the wheat side you lose braking performance due to surface area loss and you eat pads like its your job... on the sweet side your brake pads are always clean.... just like everything else its a toss up... less brake force, less pad life, higher probability of brake rotor failure.... or protection from glaze (which is not an issue with GOOD pads)

not to mention the price difference
slotted, drilled, etc... rotors generally cost around 2x what blanks cost (or more)

i find that slots are not worth it.... good pads with blank rotors give me more braking power than i will ever need...

When you're talking about Brembo Blanks, are you talking about Brembo OE rotors? I just found a pair for 30 bucks.

Edit: and a set of two Hawk brake pads for 55 bucks.

not necessarily
the quality of the metal is higher and more consistant... meaning that it will have more consistent braking... the rotor will wear more consistently... the rotor will resist warping better... etc
the quality control of their manufacturing process also means the rotor will be more balanced... the rotor will fit better... etc

all of this combined could indeed mean better braking over "brand X" generic replacement rotors
add in the fact that they generally dont cost much more than the generic "brand X" shit (and often cost less depending on where you get the "brand X")

i have run a ton of rotors in my driving lifetime (parts store cheap shit, parts store expensive shit, dealer shit, muffler/brake shop shit, etc.....)
i have had the best results with brembos

other people have run the cheap-o autozone "lifetime replacement" rotors with no problems... for me they warped all the fucking time... and "lifetime replacement" apparently means they will replace them ONE time for free (at least thats how they view it around me)... after that you need to buy a new set again.... so while 2 for 1 seems like a decent deal... its a pain in the ass to keep taking them off and exchanging them and i still ended up spending more over time than i do with the brembos
