Default Hey all I own a DSM 1g eagle talon tsi AWD turbo 14b

I have owned this car for a month now and my crankshaft is vibrating over 14 psi of boost. I have heard the term crankwalk. But anyone have an online shop manual?

You instantly diagnosed a vibration as the crankshaft vibrating? There is no online shop manual, only one on CD floating around somewhere. Easier to go buy one.

correction , 1g's do get crankwalk, it's less common with the early 6 bolt block and in 92.5 they changed over the 7 bolt which is generally know as the crankwalk king, the main reason for the crank walk problem is the use of very high pressure clutch plates, which pushed the crank into the trust bearing, and when you start your car with it the clutch pressed then your turning the crank against the trust bearing with no oil pressure for a short time which helps wear out the trust bearing to the point of crankwalk. check out dsmtalk.com and dsmtuners.com, they are very knowledgeable on those boards once you get past the noobs

It's on the back of the block near the bottom. Unless your balance shaft belt actually broke and is just hanging there, that's not the cause.

Crankwalk is caused by the thrust bearings prematurely wearing out, and since the 7 bolts oil galleries are not tapped for the piston oil squirter's the only way it cools the pistons is by an extra hole drilled in the connecting rod to squirt oil on the piston, this puts a big amount of strees on the main gallery since it also lubes the thrust washer.

you can tell if you have a 7 or 6olt dsm by the shape of the oil pan on the timming side or the timming cover or the bolts in the flywheel.

If it is crank walk you can drop the oil pan and check the trust washers or try to move the crank in or out this will let you know if the thrust washers are going and hence crank walk.

Check your belts pulleys and motor mounts, there also check to see if the dowels in the tranny are in if not it will allow the motor and tranny to move against each other.

Check out dsmtuners.com and dsmsource.com
