ive only done a timing belt 2 ways on a honda.

a) use the timing belt tool (you can get it from honda or snap on, but both are WAY too expensive).

b) use an impact and pray.

usually b takes some time cause that nut never wants to come off, and then when it finally does come off.....how are you going to get it back to the right torque.......thats the question that has plagued back yard honda freaks for years.

my advice is go to the dealership and buy the tool if you want it done right (i even broke down and did it).

-wow

theres also a hole in the tranny where you can see the flywheel...have someone bind it up with a prybar and hit the crank bolt with a big fuckin pipe on your breaker bar (last resort)

go easy or you'll snap the bolt (fucked)
-heat it up if you can

Impact is the only way. You use pry bars and you'll break the pulley more than you'll get that bolt out.

No way in hell I'd try the "rope" trick.

Impact ftw.

If you smoke the rope first, you might believe it works

Turning the car over with a breaking bar on it will not work with Hondas...it will actually tighten the bolt or break it (works on chevys though). Your best bet is to use the tool from Honda or snap-on...that's why they make them.
