Default I want this fucking truck

Yea, I'm still stuck on the Jeep GC's.

This bad boy is 850 bucks and I want it.

I've been trying to call this guy since I found it and haven't gotten a response yet, I think he posted up a new number though so hopefully I'll be able to get a hold of him tomorrow morning and pick this bitch up.

Here's a couple pics.....

Why is it only $850? Isn't that really cheap? I don't know much about Jeeps.

Not sure yet, it runs good, he sent me a video of it running, it sounds good, looks good, probably has a lot of miles on it, since he didn't list the mileage. But I don't care. I want another JGC, and this one is in good condition, NO rust, and the 4.0's are a dime a dozen and parts are rather cheap.

It's just so clean, I have to have it. I would have had it by now if he would have answered his phone.

I finally got in touch with the guy and I'm going to check it out tomorrow. There's one little issue, the guy needs to replace the truck with something before he wants to sell it and to be honest with you, I'm fine with that, I've waited this long and for a deal like this I can wait a few more days.

From what I'm hearing, engine is mechanically sound, besides a few tiny dings the body is in excellent condition, again, confirmed the no rust, Interior is clean and all the gauges are functional. Transmission and 4wd system are in excellent working condition and functional as well (common issue with these trucks). The hatch struts are shot and he said it needs the weather stripping on the rear hatch. My old JGC had the same issue, nothing a broomstick can't temporarily solve.

Now the downside, his GF listed it and it's not a 4.0, it's the 5.2 V8 which is a little turn off but I don't care I want this bad boy. The 5.2 isn't as reliable from what I hear as the 4.0 but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna take it.

I'll talk to the guy again tomorrow and take a test drive.....give him a deposit if everything is in the condition he states it to be in and hopefully have this bitch by the end of the week.

Even better news, the guy with a burgundy JGC called me back today also, again mechanically sound, around 160k miles also, interior isn't as clean but very nice, 1994, this one has the 4.0. Body is in good condition, minor dings and this one has a dent above the rear driver side wheel well, not huge but noticeable. Again, this one's 850 bucks also.

I'm gonna check them both out tomorrow and decide which one I want.

The v8 and 300ft lbs of torque sounds so nice, but this $4/gl gas doesn't.

So which truck would ya'll suggest?

I've heard mixed reviews about both motors. It's the transmissions that are the real issues on these things.

I had the 4.0 and it was indestructible.

I guess power isn't a big deal in this case but the I-6 is 190/220 and the v8 is 220/300.

I probably won't be towing/hauling much, so the I6 is probably the better choice cause of gas mileage but it's only a 5-7 mpg difference.

One of my friends has almost 200k on his ram with the 5.2. I know its on it's 2nd trans but the engine has been great. He does baby the think like I have never seen. He changes the oil like every 2000 miles.

The 4.0 and the 5.2 are both really great motors, but Chrysler is notorius for a shitty tranny. Pick the one with the least amount of miles and thats in better shape.

both the 4.0 and 5.2 are decent engines, its the electronics that suck, the 5.2 are famous for ecm issues and factory security problems

I checked out the trucks today and they were ok.

The black 5.2 was very dirty, but the engine ran strong, the trans shifted well. The power windows didn't work on the rear windows, the truck DID have some rust but was minimal, the paint was rather poor also. The coolant sensor was bad, the hatch struts were blow. What I'm saying is I had to pass, it's gas happy and has a few more issues then I want to deal with.

The burgundy 4.0 is what I'm going to be going with. It needs a few things, one motor mount needs to be replaced but it is included. The brakes could use replacing but they still have plenty of life left. The dent isn't too bad, I'll live with it. The exhaust manifold is leaking somewhere, which is common, cheap fix (new one or I can weld it up). IT does have damn near 200k miles but it also has the transmission with the most options, I don't feel like looking up the trans code right now but I'll find out when the last tim eit was replaced was, since I'm sure it has been. All in all, it's about a 7/10 and I'm gonna buy it.

I have to take my grandfather to the doctor, but the owner should be home around 1:30 and I'll talk to him then.

I'm gonna upload some pics in 2 mins.

You aren't going to ever kill a 318. On stock power levels they will last forever. They were made specifically as work horses for the commercial truck industry, the problem is that Dodge doesnt have a commercial truck industry.

I have 430k on my 318 the 4speed auto behind it.... never had a problem.

The 4.0 is great in a real jeep, in a GC it is an over-worked pig and it will show its head

the funny part is that they would get really close to the same mileage.

jeeps are pretty indestructable the only prob is the trannys and they rust on the wheel wells
the ony issue with a jeep is the parts are kinda expensive compared to other things but they last well i have an '80 cj5 with the straight 6 and its been through hell and back
