Default Just got an Electric Car 56k bites

Well it wasn't me, but a family member. It's an NEV top speed of 25mph, but can be changed, not sure if so legally or not, but I can't find any laws stopping me from doing so in Pennsylvania. They seem to be restricted to 25mph because of government laws requiring crash tests for vehicles that wold be faster.

I can't say for sure but I think its based off a micro car sold in Europe under the name spartan, but im not so sure.

Its a 2007 ZENN 2.2 LX
Has almost every option other than AC.
I should either be picking it up in New Hampshire this weekend or getting it delivered here within about a week.
Has a range of 30-50 miles and perfect for round town travel.

I'll have more pics up when it gets here and maybe a video of a test drive.
found a lot of good information on this guys site.Home

With a 25mph gov, they should not be allowed on the road. You are going to get run off the road.

I am sure there is some sort of voltage regulator on it. Find it and see if it can be altered. Maybe you can squeeze more power/mph out of it, but I doubt it will last very long. Batteries will eventually discharge.

If I get it should run about 500 at most, otherwise 850 for transport.

The limiter can be raised easy, i know how to wire it in, I just need to crack the motors software password, or buy the stuff to do it for like 80ish

i'm not sure i understand why people do this.

if i was going to get 25/mph i would just buy a vespa or something. slow speed+cheap car=death in an accident.

depends where you live, if you're in a municipality with, hydroelectric, coal, or other cheap energy sources (Well, cheaper than petroleum) then you'll spend a lot less on total energy (Gasoline + Electricity bill)

Eh, it's governed to 25 mph which means you can easily make it faster at the expense of range.

People always claim that "Your electric vehicle gets power from a plant that uses petroleum products" but if the cost of the electricity was less than the cost of gasoline, mile for mile, I'd rock an EV anyday.

so it will take me 3 times as long to only get half way to work on its range, before needing to be recharged????
so if i get 2 of them and leave one at the half way point charging and leave the house 3 hours earlier than i do now, i wont need to buy gas any more????

no thanks

...i'm a huge fan of electric cars, but maybe more like a crx with a torque monster ac induction motor that can take some k20's to the cleaner... but back to my price range, i picked up a 50cc Honda moped for two hundred bucks and it gets 80mpg, and when i get stopped by the po i dont sweat as much when i hand him my id card (yea id card baby no license). about to get a 70cc kit for it. But like a fat chick, its only fun till my friends catch me ridin' it.

There were only 2 small things with the car they failed to mention, that too the original pics didn't show the rear shelf was cracked but the drivers door. I may decide to pursue them replacing it.

Here is the driver window seal seated improperly, needs set back in.

Loaded up on the trailer, manual tells me its not supposed to be loaded like that, I found that out afterwards in the manual. It front wheel drive though, and the deal said it's fine to tow it like that. I'll check out the rear end and if theres any issues they're gonna hear it.

Reference of my friend Joe, F150 and Zenn.

Random prison in NY, I think

Just as a random note. I loaded up a friend of mine who is quite large, like 6'4"ish, and 300lbs+? He's big, the car didn't have any really significant drop in power on flat ground.

Also the car tiled to one side minimally, My crx and metro titled more, under both stock and aftermarket suspension on the crx. Needless to say, if he was in my CRX it would scrape on almost any uneven road with him in.

I think some of you are missing the boat in relation to NEV's. They are not a replacement for vehicles with the intent of going long distances. That is what your hybrids are for. I know around where I am from Madison WI they are becoming popular for running around town to do small errands. Some of the rural/smaller towns and suburbs are really starting to welcome them. People are using them to run to the grocery store and things like that. Hell I would rock one to run around town - I would not however drive one to work as I work in another city or on the highway.

I like the interior styling of that car, well except for the central gauge cluster and that little bit of wood grain. Of course, a car like that would be much better off with a boosted 'busa motor in it like ppl do to smart cars.
