I bought something today.

It is a project.

I was going to tell you what it is but then I realized I only took three pictures before the camera died and none of them are dead giveaways.

Although if you know what you are looking at, you will be able to narrow it down.

I'll give you a hint: It's old lol

I'll take many more pictures tomorrow when I go back with the trailer to bring it home. Until then...

Ford 292 y-block. Probably a f-100 in the range of 1955-1964. Not much else to go on.

Got the truck and got the ford part... That's pretty much all that's presented by the pictures.

You guys are pretty fuckin good.

It is a '57 F100. It has a 312 Y and a 4 speed, which are for sale.

It also has a 9er, which is worth as much as I paid for the truck.

I will indeed be bagging it, although I may have to body lift it as the rockers already hang down below the frame level.

The body is straight and the glass is good with the exception of the rear window, which is flat so it shouldn't be a problem to replace.

First order of biz is to pull the body off and bag it. I need the front clip from a Grand Marquis, Towncar, etc. to get some IFS under it. It has a gay solid axle right now.

Really it needs everything. I forgot the camera and it was dark by the time we got out to trailer it so I will take pics in the morning and post them up tomorrow. It is quite the turd.

Btw I paid $600 for it.

Decent amount of cleaning up to do from what it seems.

I know where a 69 C30 sits right now with a running 350 and 4 speed, clean interior. slight cab cancer. 500....

I am going to document this meticulously, as I have regretted not doing that in the past.

Ya $600...definitely a great deal I think. I mean, it needs EVERYTHING but...my goal is to build the entire thing for as close to free as possible. I foresee snags in this plan for air ride parts, raw steel, wiring, and things like brakes and misc. hoses.

I got a freebie set of chrome steelies with red centers and baby moons today though! See, the deals are already rolling in. Here are some pics I took today. We have yet to roll it off the trailer lol:

Nice project, no serious noticeable rust, and damn near complete. I'm more of a 55 man myself though.

Ya a bit too bubbly. I'm not too good with body straightening so I like the big flat panels. I'm tearing down on Monday. I will take pictures of any easter eggs and atrocities that I find.

*update*

I feel like I've gotten enough done to warrant a progress update so here goes:

I started the tear down by removing the bed and cab mounts and the doors and hood.

Got a free set of headers for a 351:

The front fenders were by far the most difficult thing to remove. They were held on by at least 12 two sided bolts so everything needed to be backed up and a lot of them were in really shitty places but finally, I prevailed:

Spent Saturday pulling the cab. We have a forklift so we just ran straps through it and lifted it right off:

Spent two or three hours today pulling the core support, motor/trans, and the front and rear suspension. I threw away the front beam axle and all the leafs and kept only the 9":

So that's where I stand. I get to start the fun stuff next week.

Here's a pic of the future ride height lol:

It's gonna be sofa king bad ass...

The frame is straight as fuck. It X measures identically to 1/32".

I'm going to keep the flat center section with the cab mounts and build new front and back halves.

The rear will have a true cantilevered four-link and the front will be Zd up with some donor F150 IFS goodies. It will lay HARD.

22s or some classy old school baby moons. If it wouldn't be 'offensive' (I don't know how private you are with this stuff) but can we get a round about +/- bare minimum that you've spent on this to get it in operating, not necessarily perfect condition?

Thanks man! I'll update as I start to actually build. I thought of 22s. There are a lot of them for sale on craigslist for CHEAP. Otherwise like 92stoc says, painted steelies with moons and whitewalls.

What are you asking? It is in pieces.

The truck was $600. That is all I have spent so far. Are you asking how much I plan on spending? Fuck I have no idea.

Probably a 97-03 F150. It is burly and probably relatively cheap. I like the fact that they are truck partsand that I can tweak the geometry if I need to. It is also rack steering which is really the only way to go.

It will be fun to plot some shit out to adjust IC and RC and castor/camber and play with the rack to get different Ackermanns. I'm excited.

I just sat down with my father in law (MS in Mathematics from Princeton btw) to get a handle on some of the trig I'm using for design. Good shit.
