Default Shift Knob: How heavy is too heavy?

as the title says, is there a certain amount of weight before it either becomes simply excessive or worst case, counter productive?

i had a guy at work make me a knob, to my specs, and it turned out a lot heavier then i had originally thought.. it ended up being 3.5" long and 2.0lbs it's entirely badass, but i noticed the ones street unit is selling were 1.32 lbs..

here's a pic of it just for reference.. keep in mind that this is still a work on progress and the gap between the knob and boot will be addressed shortly

Personally, I couldn't care less about the weight if it feels good while shifting and fits my hand well.

Yours looks really badass.

thanks! the manual machinist at work slapped it together.. still needs some polishing and some sort of anti corrosion coating, but overall, i'm really happy with the feel.. the top and bottom angles fit my hand perfectly

I'm pretty sure the skunk2 shifters shit know is ~460gr (1lb), the one you hade made comes in at 907gr(2lbs). So yeah it's heavier than most but I'm sure it's fine.

It is too heavy if it slows your car down from the additional weight, or you no longer have enough strength to shift

It's too heavy if it doesn't "reset"/naturally go into neutral or you're at the point where you can't feel it going into gear.

I was going to point that out. I have a black metal one on my car. Sucks sometimes.

That's any metal shiftknob! I had that problem too when I had the "blue ball" shiftknob.
