Default VTEC just won't kick in, yo

So I just bought my first Honda! MAN AM I EXCITED!!!!!!11!1!!ONE!

I got it from this shady lookin' dude on the other side of town who had it posted on craigslist. Apparently its an early 80's Integra with a lot of mods done to it. And when I say a lot I MEAN IT! It looks wild!!!1 He told me it had some custom fabricated bodykit that is super rare to find anywhere, and I've never seen anything like it. The only problems he said are that the actuation solenoid for the cramshafts is broke, and the gauge is missing from the dash. As he put it, "The VTEC just won't kick in anymore, yo." He also said the motor might have a couple extra cylinders in it, whatever that means. But it sounded good. ENOUGH TALK, HOW ABOUT SOME PICS?!?!??!?

The valve cover has some strange acronym cast into it,

The PO told me it stood for "Newly Integreated Super Seamless And Neoprene - Occellating Hadron Collider". Woah, those Japanese automakers sure have a way with words, LOL! Glad they made it an acronym...

The broken (I think) VTEC solenoid:

Is there any way to fix it?

Some moar pics, this time of the sweet bodykit;

Some guy named Clayton keeps trying to tell me its a "Datsun" or something, but I'm like "Lol wut, Honda never named one of their cars after a weiner dog!" I think I know what I'm talking about!! My only problem is that I'm not good with electronics, so I don't know how to fix my VTEC. Plz halp, guys, I really want to take this baby lunch tray drifting soon!!!

K, thx!!

I think you should pull that motor and install the simple Royal Bubble 25th Dark Ebony Teal edition engine....with a snail suave shaped power adder.

I like everything about that car except the exhaust. The rest of the car looks put together perfectly............then you have the crooked exhaust.

I agree entirely, its something that bothers me too. Its due to the fact that the full exhaust kit, which was MADE for the car, will not fit properly. It would be much easier had it been one straight large diameter pipe, but instead its one pipe that splits into two halfway under the car. This makes it much more difficult to maneuver where you want it, as any small adjustment down the line will put a slant on the two glass pack tips on the end. I must have fought with that thing for a couple days before finally getting it close to right, ending up cutting a chunk out of one pipe. Then I recently installed those new wheels at Clayton's, and the driver side rear wouldn't clear the exhaust... so I had to move it, again. So now its slanted, again... It does bother me a bit, and now that I have access to a welder and more tools I have less of an excuse to leave it like that. When I come to that bridge though I'll probably be completely modifying the whole pipe, and that way it won't hang so damn low either. And at that point, well..... new engine!

The car does need a few more things to really make it look good. Coilovers would be nice, it could stand to be lowered.
