Default Water leak on the S14

WTF, will this thing quit breaking?

I've got a water leak, it's not spilling out but it is a fair dripping leak. Looks like I need to add coolent about once weekly. The water drips from right around the fan area of the front of the motor and seems to me more previlant during idle then operation, but I can't even being to validate that last assumption.

So I haven't taken a decent look at it yet but I'm guessing the water pump seal? Do I need to replace the pump as well (it's at 160K miles), or is the seal good enough?

No, it's a fuckin Nissan !

Better save up for brake calipers, it's been 9 months and it's time for those to break too.

nissans are horrible maintenance pits.

think about it, homie. your water pump is on the front of the motor.

yeah but the pump seems to still be working, should I replace it at 160K to make sure there isn't a future problem?

good call. usually i will replace the t-belt/water pump/front main seal on a car that i just bought - unless it has paperwork telling me it was done at such and such a mileage. 75K otherwise

ka's are a dime a dozen. it would take less time to do a swap and be a hell of a lot easier. timing chains on those suck and are expensive. save yourself the money and get a longblock for $150.

well, if you get a longblock for $150, you will have an engine with 50,000 less miles on it and not have to fuck with any of the problems. nissan swaps are easy.

if it's anything like I changed on the planes it's like six bolts, a seal and a drive spline...

but the car's water pump is belt driven right? so no drive spline?

?!? who the fuck designed that shit?

this is something I've had a real hard time with, with airplanes EVERYTHING had a gasket, you reseal it, bolt it down, goodnight.

do auto manufacturers do this shit on purpose?
