Default What to do now?

So i just got the insurance quote. she was very fair on assessing the damage to the nissan. she quoted me at $1425 for repairs and paint to the front end. she could tell what was old damage, but still gave me credit. gave me $300 for the headlights, which is cost for the pair even though one was already broken. she also gave me credit for the fender and hood that was already damaged. I planned on selling the car and getting something i can drive daily. either a civic coupe or 97/98 240sx.

I think she gave me more than I deserved but not as much as i hoped for. would have been more if there wasn't damage already. but if it was totaled, i wouldn't get shit for it.

if i invest about $4000 total, i could sell it for maybe $10,000. if i was to part it out, i might get $6500 for it plus the $1400. so maybe $8000 net versus repairing it i would get $6000 net.

I'd part it out personally. It would save you time from repairing it and probably a lot of headaches too.

I'm going the oppsite way. To me it's easier to get the money in one lump sum, the to get bits and pieces over time. The way life goes for me, if I were to part it out I'd get a sale for 2k and something would come up in life that I'd have to use the 2k on, other then what it was intended for. Not to mention the headaches of getting buyers lined up for parts, then they flake out.

yeah, but there was damage already from over a year and a half ago. she could tell what was new and what was old. she is giving me money to paint stuff that wasn't painted before and headlights that were already broken.

if it got into the $3k price range, it would be a full total. I wouldn't get much value out of a total loss because it isn't painted. it would take down the total insured value of the car.

I feel that I should get more, but it's difficult to squeeze blood from a turnip.

so what do you think i should do with the money?

if you don't want the car anymore, get rid of it.
