Pretty much any of these are about as close to cars as there are without the conversions. All are pretty much NEV's

A family member just bought a 2007 zenn 2.2 lx off ebay for 11,000.01 . I love snipers. Car is made in Canada.

Miles Zx40 is another common one some guy was selling around 8,000 for them in NC

Then theres a smart clone from china thats being sold somewhere out of Oregon, has to be shipped from China around 8000 too. I forget what its called. Theres also a guy selling 2 door and 4 door versions of them.

Then the Kurrents. They look more like golf carts than the Gems.

I'll post up my stuff i got on them if you want.

most of them have DC motors, some use AC. For the most part easy to service replace or repair with some knowhow. A lot easier than combustion engines in my opinion, but it depends what you grew up tinkering with.

BTW Flybo was the Chinese smart lookalike. I hear there were some quality control issues but I cannot confirm.

Some guy that's posted on this forum a few times builds electric cars out of older standard vehicles. He has a DA Integra with a range of 50 miles I think, and the acceleration and top speed are perfectly acceptable for a daily driven car. He just pulled the motor, replaced it with an electric motor, and hooked it up to the OE transmission with an adaptor plate.

Look in the Integra section, the thread should still be near the top...

yeah i looked into the conversion thing too.
would be easier to finance an electric car than it would be to try to pull the money to convert my car.
although it would be awesome to convert the delsol.

z6, any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed i like that idea but the conversions can be rather expensive. Running at least 5000 because of the cost of batteries. Then again i have heard of them being done cheap as well.

I've heard of these done more commonly with old VW's

Converting you're car for electric has advantages and disadvantages. You can get parts easily but you have to get everything mounted, sourcing a proper motor and such. Most motors are from donor forklifts and typically rated lower than their peak power.

Buying full fledged electric car is expensive

Buying a Toyota Prius, or anything with the synergy drive and converting will probably be about as expensive.

Buying a non golf cart NEV is also going to set you back a bit

NEV or converting will vary in cost ranging from 4k-20kish, just depends on your use. Either of these are normally going to have a range of less than 50 miles.

I have to get some sleep soon and will post up tomorrow on what I have. Theres a Kurrent on ebay right now :-D.

That's enough dough to buy a used 90 integra and put gas in it for a many years to come.

pretty much. everybody thinks of some round about way to save gas. so this guy put 12k into a car he can't drive more than 50 miles at a time.

just bite the bullet. $1/gal increase in gas is about $500 year in gas added. this pretty much motivated me to go back to school and get a better job.

So far 4 sitting on Ebay that have doors, conversions, or stock

I cant find the stuff I had on this computer really, I know theres lots of ways to setup NEV's to go faster, a lot is just programmed into the motor controller. The Miles is a bit heavier than most.

Just literally typing in the model of the car into google does wonders, cause most everything I could post about them I find like that.
